Two suspects male who were arrested three days ago admitted to being “partially involved” in theft of the Museum of Louvre two weeks ago, the BBC.
The men were identified by DNA left at the scene of the crime and later intercepted by the police. One of the detainees was Algerian and I was trying to escape to his home country when he was captured by security forces.
The second suspect I didn’t intend to leave France. They are both in their thirties and have a criminal record.
Suspicions of internal crime
Until now, authorities had ruled out the possibility that the theft had been an internal crimeconfirming that no accomplices worked at the museum, said Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau.
However, the hypothesis has resurfaced, as there is possibility of the case involving more people than the four captured by the museum’s security cameras.
Laure Beccuau said that the jewelry has not yet been recovered and that the group involved may be larger than was thought.
The items stolen from the most visited museum in the world, on October 19, by four robbers were valued at 88 million euros.
