In line with one of the memoranda of understanding signed between Brazil and Portugal at the last summit, held in February, the two countries will discuss cooperation in Artificial Intelligence. The seminar Dialogue on a Portuguese-Brazilian agenda in Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be held on November 6th, in Lisbon, from 9:00.
The objective of the event is precisely the construction of this agenda between countries, focused on exchanging experiences in the area of AI. The day’s program will begin with a welcome from minister-counselor Olympio Faissol, charge d’affaires at the Brazilian Embassy in Lisbon, followed by a talk by Eduardo Saron, president of Fundação Itaú, who will speak about “Synthetic Inequality and the Right to Reality”.
The first panel will have the theme “Brazil-Portugal digital dialogue: building a joint AI agenda”. THE The focus will be on initiatives that aim to improve the quality of life and public services in Portugal and Brazil, as provided for in the Memorandum of Understanding on a Digital Dialogue, adopted at the XIV Brazil-Portugal Summit, held in Brasília, in February.
Will participate in the debate Henrique de Oliveira Miguelsecretary of Science and Technology for Digital Transformation at MCTI and representative of the ministry on the governance committee of the Brazilian Artificial Intelligence Strategy; Rogério MascarenhasSecretary of Digital Government at MGI; Bernardo CorreiaSecretary of State for Digitalization of Portugal; and Luisa Ribeiro Lopespresident of the .PT Board of Directors and coordinator of Portugal’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy. The conversation will be moderated by the counselor Luiz Felipe Rosa dos Santosfrom the Brazilian Embassy in Lisbon, with 15 minutes allocated to questions from the public.
The second panel, titled “Digital sovereignty and global AI governance”, will discuss “the challenges and opportunities for responsible governance”, theembroidering how to balance security, innovation and national interests in the era of artificial intelligence. The conversation, also with 15 minutes of debate with the public, will be moderated Fabrício Motafrom the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB).
The speakers will be the ambassador Eugênio Vargas Garciadirector of the Department of Science, Technology, Innovation and Intellectual Property at Itamaraty; Helena Monizfrom the University of Lisbon / Bridge AI; Luis Barreto Xavierfrom Abreu Advogados and Universidade Católica and Renata Miellicoordinator of the Internet Steering Committee in Brazil (CGI.br).
The third and final panel will address the development of the most recent discussions on AI regulatory frameworks involving Brazil and Portugal, with the title “For fair, inclusive and equitable regulation of the AI sector”. They are confirmed Carlos Affonso Souzadirector of the Institute of Technology and Society; Raquel Brízida Castrovice-president of the Board of Directors of the National Communications Authority (ANACOM); Norberto Andradeformer director of Meta in Lisbon and Laura Schertel Mendesfrom IDP Brasília. The conversation will be moderated by Eduardo Magranibecause FGV / BOSCH.
The event will take place at the Tivoli Liberdade hotel, in Lisbon. The promotion is from the Energy, Science and Innovation Sector of the Brazilian Embassy in Lisbon.
