The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Emmerdale that hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX.

April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) and Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle) attempted to escape Celia Daniels’ (Jaye Griffiths) world of drug dealing in yesterday’s episode of Emmerdale, but they were caught by Ray Walters (Joe Absolom).

An angry Ray then instructed Dylan and only Dylan to get into his car. April was terrified about where Ray was going to take him, but he snapped and said if she wants Dylan to be safe, then she must do everything her client asks tomorrow.

Desperate, April agreed. The last time she met with a private client, April ran out of the hotel room after an older man called Tim made it clear that he was sexually attracted to her.

Celia explained to April that her reputation is on the line when these situations take place, and she cannot risk having it damaged just because she’s too afraid to do something.

She also reminded April of her debt, and stated that it wouldn’t be going anywhere if she kept refusing to do as asked.

April spent the start of her day trying to find out where Dylan was. With Ray nursing an injured hand, it was suggested that Dylan wasn’t safe, but April wasn’t going to know the truth until her job was completed.

It was Halloween night in the village as well, which meant residents were excitedly getting ready to dress up for parties and an event at the pub. Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) asked April if she’d like to attend the evening at Tenants with the likes of Leo, Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) and Eve, but April anxiously said that she had other plans.

Dressed up at the B&B, April got another surprise when it became clear Celia was going on a date with her granddad Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw). It was all part of the plan to prevent Bob from getting suspicious or worried about April, and Celia’s charm was working wonders on him.

With her loved ones distracted, April headed to meet the older man.

We won’t reveal exactly what happens next, but we can confirm a murderous twist will happen in this story.

If you want to check out what happens then make your way over to ITVX right now if not, tune into the episode on ITV1 later this evening at 7pm.

It’s another dark turn, and let’s just say things won’t ever be the same after this.

The development comes ahead of a special episode of Emmerdale, which will focus solely on April and Marlon.

Mark Charnock, who plays Marlon, has confirmed there will be a twist in the episode that will ‘stagger the audience.’

Reflecting on receiving the script and the filming of the scenes, he said: ‘I was absolutely buzzing. It’s thrilling, it’s flattering to be trusted with an episode, and to work with Amelia in that way. It’s an absolutely outstanding script, it’s an absolute gift for an actor.

‘In a normal episode there’s about 15/16/17 scenes and we did nearly all of them over a two day period so it was essentially in one location. It was really rewarding, really intense given the nature of the story. There comes a point in it where you just kind of think “I hope this turns out as well as the script deserves”. It was an incredible experience.’

Explaining the set up of the episode, Mark added: ‘April was going to come to a Halloween party with the rest of the family, she doesn’t turn up and he’s really sad about it. So she turns up at the house and he’s on his own and the episode begins, it’s lovely actually, with them rediscovering the younger version of her and how that was for them when she was really little.

‘The first act, if you like, is about him rediscovering his daughter, the daughter he knew before everything tragic that happened to her, and her rediscovering not only her dad but that part of herself too, so it’s really something.’

Full of praise for Amelia Flanagan, Mark smiled: ‘I’ve said it so many times now, she is a remarkable actress and she can summon emotion on the spot, she’s got older and she does this thing now where you can see so much going on in her eyes as well as her voice and her physicality, she’s got all the tools to carry on being a really quite brilliant actress.’

‘I can tease it by saying things are going to get considerably worse before they get better and in this special episode, something happens that when I read it, it shocked me so much that I thought “Oh god, I wish I’d known about it before I read it” because it really threw me, it’s just a great twist of drama’, Mark added.

‘There’s so much good stuff and the great thing about this story is it impacts so many different people. Tony Audenshaw has been brilliant in it as well, as Bob, he has been superb, who’s like a further circle away from the reality of it.

‘It’s a storyline that keeps on giving – it’s dark but in the best dramatic way that a story can be dark.’
