Exhibition by Bruno Saavedra

Portuguese-Brazilian photographer Bruno Saavedra opens this Saturday (1), at 6pm, at the Centro Cultural de Cascais, the exhibition When I last saw him dance. The result of more than three years of work, the series follows Simão Telles, creator of the drag show Symone De Lá Dragma, between Pontével and Lisbon nights, in images that combine intimacy, identity and the freedom to exist. The project explores the performer’s emotional universe and their identity construction process, between vulnerability and strength, from home to stage.

Curated by Mário Cruz, the exhibition focuses on a sensitive approach, with photography and audiovisuals that refuse caricatures and embrace the complexity of the subject portrayed. A rare opportunity to see Saavedra’s work already exhibited in Brazil, Australia, Macau and Germany. Baiano from Itamarajú, the artist has been in Portugal since 2004.

Black Total: Halloween at Fábrica Braço de Prata

Friday (31) is the day to dance and dress up at Fábrica Braço de Prata, which hosts the Black Total LX party, dedicated to black culture and Afro-Brazilian identity. The charming ball takes over the space to the sounds of DJ Swingueiro, DJ Slick, Camis, Gui do Balanço and Wit Vieira, in a proposal that mixes R&B beats, funk, groove and soul. The Halloween vibe pays direct homage to Michael Jackson, and of course, Thriller promises to appear on the setlist.

The event starts at 10pm and continues late into the night — it’s worth arriving early to guarantee space on the track, as it tends to fill up. In an atmosphere of community and warm energy, Black Total reinforces Lisbon as a point of effervescence for the Brazilian artistic diaspora.

When? Friday (31/10), from 10pm

Where? At the Braço de Prata Factory

Antônio Villeroy at BOTA

On Sunday (2), composer and singer Antônio Villeroy, author of more than 400 songs recorded by artists such as Ana Carolina, Gal Costa and Ivan Lins, performs an intimate show at BOTA, in Largo de Santa Bárbara. In a career that has already taken him to audiences of 30,000 people and to stages in the Americas, Europe and Africa, Villeroy returns to Lisbon with a similar format, voice and guitar, privileging the authorial repertoire and hits that have crossed soap operas, films and Brazilian radio stations in recent decades.

It is a rare occasion to hear up close one of the most prolific names in contemporary Brazilian composition, who moves naturally through samba, pop, MPB and jazz. The show starts at 9pm and ends the weekend’s program with an invitation to listen in one of the most welcoming spaces in Lisbon for those who enjoy live music.

When? Sunday (2/11), at 9pm

Where? At BOTA (Largo de Santa Bárbara, Anjos)
