The NFL announced that British rocker Sting will perform during Super Bowl weekend after receiving major backlash for selecting Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny for the halftime show.
“Super Bowl LX Studio 60 is a weekend of unforgettable music entertainment at one of San Francisco’s most iconic venues,” NFL’s hospitality provider, On Location, announced on Tuesday, October 28. “The intimate setting serves as an opportunity to see artists up close and personal.”
While little information is known about the event at this time, Sting’s performance will be a separate event from game day as it is scheduled for Friday, February 6, at San Francisco’s Palace of Fine Arts.
It’s unclear whether Studio 60 is a response to the backlash the league faced for tapping Bad Bunny for the iconic halftime show.
However, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell previously assured fans that the “I Like It” artist is not being reconsidered.
“It’s carefully thought through,” Goodell said on October 22. “I’m not sure we’ve ever selected an artist where we didn’t have some blowback or criticism. It’s pretty hard to do when you have literally hundreds of millions of people that are watching.”
He continued, “And I think it’s going to be exciting and a united moment.”
