Microsoft achieved remarkable revenue growth of 18 percent in the first quarter of fiscal year 2025/26, driven by strong demand for artificial intelligence and cloud services. The company increased its sales to $77.7 billion, while operating profit climbed by almost a quarter to $38 billion. Despite these impressive numbers, one problem remains: capacity constraints in data centers prevent demand from being fully met.
Microsoft’s chief financial officer, Amy Hood, explained that current data center capacity is not enough to meet the full potential of demand. These bottlenecks pose a significant challenge as demand for cloud services and AI solutions continues to grow exponentially. However, Microsoft is continually investing in expanding its infrastructure to overcome these hurdles and meet increasing demand.
Interestingly, Microsoft shares reacted with a decline of a good two percent in early US trading.
