The above was announced this Thursday by President Claudia Sheinbaum, who reported that the request will be presented today by Secretary Admiral Raymundo Pedro Morales during a meeting with a representative of the US Coast Guard.
“And then a meeting is also being sought with the Southern Command, which is the one who develops these activities, and also with the Department of State. Our objective is to continue working with the scheme with which we have been working, which has to do with information that is provided to the Secretary of the Navy so that we are obviously in our continental zone and in the economic zone, Well, it has to be the Mexican Forces, and in the case of international waters, “That could be what we have been doing in what has to do with the length of the national territory, which is the capture of these vessels,” reported the Chief Executive.
Likewise, he highlighted that, so far, the US authorities have not given more information to Mexico about the nationalities of the occupants of the boat that ended up sinkingalthough he stressed that yesterday’s meeting between the Chancellor, the Secretary Admiral and Ambassador Johnson “very good.”
Next, Sheinbaum Pardo commented that he continues the search for the castaway by the Navy.
“The Navy,” the Admiral explained to us today, “has to remain for 96 hours—that’s what international rules say—looking for a shipwrecked person, and it is doing so, in accordance with international law”, he stated.
After attack on ‘narco boats’, Sheinbaum asks the US to improve action protocol
Yesterday, President Claudia Sheinbaum indicated that the US ambassador was asked respect and improve security protocol in international waters.
