Vance: Testing our nuclear arsenal is necessary to ensure it is working properly news

US Vice President J.D. Vance stressed – yesterday, Thursday – that testing the US nuclear arsenal is important to ensure its proper operation, and constitutes an important part of the national security of the United States.

Vance’s statement to reporters at the White House comes after President Donald Trump ordered the military to resume nuclear weapons testing, after a hiatus that lasted more than 30 years. But Vance did not clarify what tests the president ordered.

“Making sure that this nuclear arsenal that we have is actually operating properly is an important part of American national security,” Vance said. He explained, “We know it’s working properly, but we have to make sure this works over time, and the president just wants to make sure we do that.”

The Vice President referred to the large nuclear arsenals of the United States, Russia and China, stressing that they sometimes need to be tested to ensure that they are working properly, stressing that “the President’s post speaks for itself” regarding what the tests are.

Trump’s decision to resume the tests was issued after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Moscow had successfully tested an underwater drone capable of carrying nuclear warheads and a cruise missile powered by nuclear propulsion.

This announcement, in which Trump did not specify what the tests would be, sparked worldwide concern.

For his part, Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, said, “The Secretary-General has repeatedly stressed that the current nuclear risks are extremely high in an alarming manner, and all actions that may lead to miscalculation or escalation with serious consequences must be avoided. Nuclear tests cannot be allowed to be conducted under any circumstances.”
