Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization, Robert Floyd, said on Thursday that any nuclear weapons test would harm efforts to prevent nuclear proliferation and global peace and security.
Floyd stated in a statement, issued after US President Donald Trump ordered the US military to immediately resume nuclear weapons testing, that he is aware of the public comments that highlight ongoing concerns about nuclear weapons testing.
He explained that “any test of explosive nuclear weapons by any country would be harmful and destabilizing to global efforts to prevent nuclear proliferation and to international peace and security.”

Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform before his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea, “Due to the testing programs carried out by other countries, I have directed the Department of War to begin testing our nuclear weapons on an equal footing,” indicating that the tests will resume immediately.
