Billie Eilish criticized several billionaires, while promising to donate 11.5 million dollars (about 9.94 million euros) to charity.
During the “Wall Street Journal” Innovator Awards ceremony, which took place last Wednesday at MoMa, in New York, the artist – distinguished with an award for innovation in music – took advantage of the stage to criticize multimillionaires who refuse to help the most unfortunate.
“We are going through a very bad and dark period in the world. More than ever, people need empathy and help. Especially in our country”, he stated. “If you have money, it would be good to use it for good and give some to the people who need it most.”
In a ceremony that was attended, among others, by Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook and one of the richest men in the world, Eilish did not shy away from addressing them personally: “I like you all, but there are people here who have more money than me. If they are billionaires, why are they? Donate your money, babies.”
