A 400,000-Car Recall Blitz Comes From Who Else But Ford?

A combined 401,859 Ford and Lincoln vehicles have been recalled over the last few weeks. It also continues Ford’s dominance in an unpleasant area – the automaker leads the industry in recalls this year, with a whopping 131. Moreover, the automaker broke the record for annual recalls just halfway through this year. Right now, there are no signs of this stopping, but you’ll at least be able to figure out if your Ford or Lincoln has been affected by this most recent run of recalls below.

Broncos, F-150s, And More Recalled

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS – JANUARY 03: A Ford Bronco is seen for sale on the Griffith Ford dealership lot on January 03, 2024 in San Marcos, Texas. Auto sales rose sharply within the first nine months of 2023, with analysts projecting a 13% increase from the prior year once all automakers release their figures. Pent-up demand and the alleviation of shortages due to supply chain hiccups and labor disruptions is being attributed to the gains. (Photo by Brandon Bell/Getty Images)

Ford recalled 163,256 Broncos because of a loose bolt on the driver’s seat. The recall covers the 2021-2023 Bronco. In the roughly 3% of affected vehicles, the seat frame height adjustment pivot bolts may loosen. The NHTSA says this could cause one or both front seats to dislodge. Owners, however, can have the relatively simple fix done at the dealer, with the installation of a new pivot bolt. Owners will be notified between Dec. 1 and Dec. 5.

Moonroof deflectors are also an issue: a new recall covers the 2021-22 Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expedition, 2021-23 F-150, and 2022 F-250, F-350, and F-450. These suffer from improper installation, which may result in the deflector flying off while you’re driving. This issue came up after a few warranty reports for the part, including one situation where a deflector somehow entered the vehicle and struck the driver. 174,853 vehicles were recalled, and owners will be notified between Nov. 3 and Nov. 7.

Ford Is Also Recalling Vans And Lincoln Products

Ford’s recalls also expand to vans. The 2026 Econoline was recalled for an inoperable defrosting/defogging system. Blower motors aren’t aligned with the vents, which of course, means your windows won’t defog so well. Ford will fix the system in-house at its dealers, and owners will be notified between Nov. 3 and Nov. 7.

Lincoln vehicles, like the 2025-26 Lincoln Corsair and Aviator, as well as the Ford Explorer, were recalled for air bubbles in the car’s windshields. The issue lies in the laminate layer of the windshield and was the result of a manufacturing defect. The issue will be fixed with a new windscreen, of course, handled by your dealer. Owners can expect notification by November 7.

The brand’s long run of recalls began as a pledge to customers to right quality control in Dearborn, but the long road to fixing things is taking its toll as well. Recalls have become a large part of the ownership experience at Ford, and it’s not hard to imagine the damage this is doing to the brand.
