Israeli artillery and tanks bombed the east and north of Khan Yunis (southern Gaza Strip) today, Saturday. On the other hand, the Israeli authorities revealed that they had received the bodies of 3 prisoners from the Red Cross on Friday evening, and they had been referred to the Forensic Medicine Institute to confirm their identities.
Al Jazeera’s correspondent said that the Israeli occupation aircraft launched air strikes east of the city of Khan Yunis. He also reported that the occupation army blew up residential buildings east of Gaza City.
An Israeli quadcopter drone launched bombs east of the Bureij refugee camp (central Gaza Strip), and the vicinity of Khan Yunis was subjected to artillery shelling and gunfire from Israeli tanks.
Local sources said that the occupation army continued its operations to blow up residential buildings east of the Bureij camp (central Gaza Strip).
The ceasefire agreement – in accordance with Trump’s peace plan – ended an Israeli war of annihilation in Gaza that had lasted for two years since October 7, 2023, with the support of the United States.
This genocide left more than 68,000 martyrs and more than 170,000 wounded, most of them children and women, and the destruction of 90% of civilian infrastructure, with a reconstruction cost estimated by the United Nations at about 70 billion dollars.
Examination of the bodies of 3 prisoners
The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation said that the Red Cross handed over the remains of 3 prisoners to the army, and they were transferred to the Forensic Medicine Institute to conduct the necessary tests to determine their identities. She added, “But it is still not yet clear whether these remains belong to the bodies of Israeli prisoners among the 11 prisoners who are still in Gaza.”
In turn, Israeli Channel 13 indicated that Hamas informed the Red Cross that it did not know the owners of these bodies, but suggested that Israel examine them.
The channel quoted the Israeli army as saying, “There are at least bodies that Hamas can hand over soon,” while Hamas still does not know the whereabouts of between 3 and 5 other bodies.
These developments come one day after Israel received the remains of two prisoners from Gaza (Amiram Cooper and Saher Baruch) after they were officially identified by the Israeli authorities.
Since the ceasefire agreement came into effect, Hamas has handed over 20 Israeli prisoners alive, and the remains of 19 out of 28 prisoners, as of Thursday, most of them Israelis, according to what the movement announced.
But Israel previously claimed that one of the bodies received did not match any of its prisoners.
This comes within the first phase of the “ceasefire and prisoner exchange” agreement between Hamas and Israel, which entered into force on October 10, 2025.
Israel is conditioning the start of negotiations to launch the second phase – of its agreement with Hamas – on its receipt of the rest of the bodies of the prisoners, while Hamas asserts that it will take time to extract them due to the massive destruction in Gaza.
On the other hand, there are 9,500 missing Palestinians who were killed by the Israeli army, and their bodies are still under the rubble of the destruction of the Israeli war of annihilation, according to the government media office in Gaza.
There are also more than 10,000 Palestinian prisoners, including children and women, in Israeli prisons, suffering from torture, starvation, and medical neglect. Many of them were killed, according to Palestinian and Israeli human rights and media reports.
