Two more Air India flights have had to make emergency landings since the devastating crash

The world is in mourning after an Air India flight from Ahmedabad to London crashed seconds after takeoff last week, and there have been two more incidents on Air India flights since.

On Monday (16th June), a plane from Hong Kong to New Delhi turned around shortly after taking off due to a suspected technical issue.

“AI315 operating from Hong Kong to Delhi on 16 June 2025 air-returned to Hong Kong shortly after take off due to a technical issue,” Air India said in a statement to Hindustan Times.

“The flight landed safely at Hong Kong and is undergoing checks as a matter of abundant precaution. Alternative arrangements have been planned to fly the passengers to their destination Delhi at the earliest.”

It was a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, the same aircraft that crashed last week, killing 241 passengers on board. No further details about the technical issue have been released at this time.

The incident comes after another flight from Phuket, Thailand to New Delhi, India, was also forced to make an emergency landing on Friday (13th June) due to a bomb threat on board.

Phuket Airport general manager Monchai Tanode revealed that a note was found in one of the bathrooms after takeoff containing a bomb threat, so the flight returned to the Thai Island after taking off.

Emergency plans were followed and all 156 passengers were escorted off the plane, although no signs of a real bomb threat were found.

“Police took suspects for questioning but could not clearly say who wrote the note,” the manager said at a press conference. As reported by The Independent, all three suspects have now been cleared.

The death toll has now risen to a heartbreaking 270 people after the Air India crash, with many people on the ground sadly losing their lives too. It crashed into an accommodation for medical students.
