The knitting machine manufacturer Mayer & Cie, a traditional company based in Albstadt, Baden-Württemberg, has ceased operations after 120 years. The news of the bankruptcy of the company, considered the world leader in the production of knitting machines for the textile industry, caused a stir in the industry. Despite intensive efforts to find investors, no rescue could be found for the company.
Mayer & Cie had already filed an application for insolvency proceedings under self-administration at the end of September. The Grub Brugger law firm, which operates nationwide, announced on December 1st that insolvency proceedings had been opened.
