Beloved Sitcom Icon Shares Second Cancer Battle Shortly After Previous Recovery

Over the last few decades, there have only been a short list of sitcoms that have become beloved enough to be considered iconic. When an actor beats the odds by getting to star in one of those legendary comedy shows that live on in the hearts of viewers, they tend to build a special bond with fans.

Unfortunately, a famous actor who has been beloved by generations of fans has recently revealed sad news about their health. Decades after headlining a legendary sitcom, the actor has just confirmed that they are battling cancer again.

On December 2, 2025, Dave Coulier appeared on Today to give a major update on his health. While speaking to Craig Melvin, Coulier revealed that he has been diagnosed with p16 squamous carcinoma, which is a form of cancer. The type of cancer that the iconic actor is now fighting can affect a person’s throat, neck, and head. During his Today interview, the former Full House star explained what led to his new cancer diagnosis.

“In October of this year, I went in for a PET scan, just a routine checkup. And something flared on the PET scan. And it turned out that I have P16 squamous carcinoma at the base of my tongue.”

In October 2024, Coulier revealed that he’d been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. Months later, in March 2025, the actor’s longtime Full House and Fuller House co-star, Candace Cameron Bure, posted on Instagram that Coulier had been declared cancer-free. “DAVE IS CANCER FREE!!!! Join me in celebrating this AMAZING news — let’s shower him with all the love in the world! ❤️❤️❤️”

Throughout his lengthy career, Coulier has been known for being upbeat and positive. Fortunately for any of the actor’s fans who will be upset to learn that he has to battle cancer again, that hasn’t changed. During his Today interview, Coulier revealed how he reacted to the news of his latest cancer diagnosis and that his doctors told him his current battle is unrelated to his previous one. While speaking about that and his ongoing fight, Coulier cast his current cancer battle in a very positive light.

“So, I said to the doctors, I said, ‘Well, did this happen because of the lymphoma?’ And they said, ‘Totally unrelated.’ So they said, ‘Well, now you’re going to have to go through radiation.’ So I’m currently going through 35 radiation treatments. I’ll be done, though, December 31st. Bringing in the new year… Prognosis is very good for P16 squamous carcinoma. So it has a 90-plus curability rate.”

As Coulier finished speaking about his cancer battles, his voice seemingly began to crack as he spoke about something that he clearly cares a lot about. The actor explained that early detection has saved his life twice before expressing his hope that Today’s host and everyone else will go through regular cancer screenings.

“But the thing that has really saved my life, Craig, is that early detection saved my life, not just the first time, but the second time as well. So I hope you’re getting your checkup. Colonoscopies, breast exams and prostate exams. They will save your life.”

Encouraging others to undergo cancer screenings isn’t the only way that Coulier is trying to help others stay healthy. Earlier during his Today interview, he also spoke about creating a business to help others rid their lives of toxins he believes could affect their health.

“I started a company because I became very aware. And it was the word aware that really was my thought bubble. It was A-W-E-A-R, which is, it’s not so much what I’m ingesting, it’s what I’m wearing, my clothing, what I’m putting on my skin. And so AwearMarket.com was born because I thought, to replace all this stuff in my life is really difficult. I need to create a place where it’s easier for people.”
