Two of WWE’s most beloved wrestling superstars are in mourning this week after the loss of a beloved family pet.
CM Punk and AJ Lee announced on Tuesday that their dog Larry has died. Punk, who returned to WWE in 2023 after a near-decade absence, posted a heartfelt tribute to the dog on social media.
“The grief we carry is the price we pay for unconditional love,” Punk said. “Our little Larry crossed the rainbow bridge, wrapped tightly in our arms. He was safe and happy. Surrounded by love.”
Punk explained that he and Lee took Larry in as a rescue in 2015, and that he “changed [their] lives.”
“I could never in one million years find the words to properly express how much we loved him nor how much joy [he] brought us. Nothing I write, no pictures I post would do him justice,” the veteran wrestler said.
Punk posted several photos and videos of himself and Lee with Larry. The dog accompanied the married couple on trips around the country and around the world, and eventually became a favorite among fans of both wrestlers.
Fans Show Support During Difficult Time
Many fans commented on Punk’s social media post, expressing their condolences and sorrow over the pet’s passing.
“Rest in peace, Larry. My condolences to you both. Larry was an incredibly special little guy and seeing all the love you had for him was just so heartwarming. Larry forever,” one fan said.
“when you grabbed his name on your chest and pounded the ground extra times I knew it,” another fan said, reacting to Punk’s appearance at “Survivor Series” on Saturday. “I’m so so sorry and know how devastating this is and sending you prayers for healing and comfort.”
Punk featured Larry in several social media posts, and created merchandise with WWE bearing the dog’s name and likeness. On Saturday, he wore a jacket to the ring with the words “Larry’s Dad” embroidered.
Punk and Lee’s Successful Returns to WWE
Like Punk, Lee returned to WWE after an extended absence. She made her official return alongside her husband in September, facing Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins – another married couple – in a mixed tag team match. Fans clamored for Lee’s return for years, just as they had done for Punk before his big return in 2023.
The couple have been featured prominently on WWE television since returning, and they’ve received great reactions from fans around the world.
“He made everywhere we went with him home. What a privilege to be so heart broken and devastated for having experienced such a bond. I wouldn’t change anything,” Punk said in his post about Larry.
“Our boy is at rest. The house is quiet but we still hear the jingle of his necklace and the tip taps of his little feet on the hardwood floors. He will always be near. We will always feel him. Our hearts are broken. Until we see you again, sweetest Bobo. We love you. Forever.”
