The Cologne studio Neoludic celebrated an impressive success at the German Developer Award with its indie game ‘Tiny Bookshop’. The game, which is characterized by its creative design and inviting atmosphere, was awarded in the categories ‘Best German Game’, ‘Best Indie Game’ and ‘Best Graphics’. This recognition highlights the game’s ability to create a unique blend of creativity, warmth and community.

‘Tiny Bookshop’ is a prime example of the so-called ‘Cozy Games’, in which players take on the role of a bookseller in an idyllic coastal town. The focus is on relaxed interaction by giving customers individual book recommendations and helping them with their goals. The game deliberately avoids losers and takes players into a nostalgic world full of letters and Polaroid photos that are reminiscent of an analogue time.

The creative minds behind Neoludic, David Zapfe-Wildemann and Raven Rusch, are former students of the Cologne Game Lab at TH Köln. They were moved by the awards and emphasized the pride that comes with their first project together. Since its release in August, ‘Tiny Bookshop’ has achieved an impressive 500,000 sales, exceeding the developers’ wildest expectations.

Other talents were also honored at the awards ceremony. The Berlin studio Paintbucket Games received two awards for its game ‘The Darkest Files’, which won in the categories ‘Best Game Design’ and ‘Best Game Beyond Entertainment’. Toukana Interactive from Berlin was celebrated as ‘Studio of the Year’. In total, prizes were awarded in 14 categories, primarily aimed at public recognition.

The German Developer Prize covers the entire German-speaking region and differs from the German Computer Game Prize, which exclusively honors German studios with a total prize money of 800,000 euros. The decision on the winners was made by a prominent jury of 175 industry experts.
