Earlier this year, Hulu’s new hit series Chad Powers officially concluded, with the six-episode first season of the show ending on a major cliffhanger that left viewers eagerly awaiting a second season.
While Hulu has not officially announced a second season of the show, things do appear to be headed in that direction, and it sounds like star and co-creator Glen Powell already has a pretty significant cameo in mind.
Taylor Swift in Season 2?
While production has not yet begun on the second season, the show’s creators have not been shy about talking about discussing potential elements of season 2, and it sounds like they’re hoping that it could include a cameo from Taylor Swift.
During a recent interview with Variety, Powell and co-star Perry Mattfeld discussed the pop sensation’s connection to the football world through her fiancé, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and made it clear that they hope she sees and appreciates the show.
“I’m working my way to her,” Mattfeld told Variety. “We’ll make sure she sees the series and she’ll get it. I’m hoping because of Travis [Kelce], she’ll watch and then we’ll connect and talk offense.”
Powell took it a step further and called for Swift to make a cameo in season 2.
“You already got me thinking about Season 2 cameos. T-Swift comin’ in hot,” Powell said.
It sounds like co-creator Michael Waldron is on board with the possibility, as well.
“I’m an O.G. Country music Taylor fan. I was blasting Taylor’s first album when I was in college, so I’m in,” Waldron told Decider during a recent interview. “My dream is to have Taylor write and record the Chad Powers love theme. You know how a lot of movies used to have that? That’s my dream.”
A Real Possibility?
Ever since she began dating Kelce, Swift has embraced the game of football, attending Chiefs games to support him and even spending a lot of time learning the game. At this point, Swift openly declares herself a major football fan, meaning that a cameo in Chad Powers might make sense.
There’s another seemingly obvious connection that could make a Swift cameo a real possibility: Kelce’s emerging entertainment career.
The superstar tight end has already begun carving out an acting career for himself, even making a recent appearance in Happy Gilmore 2. Perhaps his next role could be in Chad Powers alongside Swift.
“We’ve gotta we gotta get it in front of them,” Waldron added. “Big, huge fan. Huge Swiftie over here, for sure.”
It’s worth noting that before any talk of cameos can happen, Hulu would have to officially renew the show for a second season. Though signs seem to indicate that it will happen, it has not been officially announced just yet.
