EastEnders star Molly Rainford has addressed the chance of a return to the BBC soap after her character Anna Knight left Albert Square last night.
Anna headed off with Freddie Slater (Bobby Brazier) after an emotional goodbye to their loved ones.
She had previously announced that she planned to go travelling and was happy to accept when Freddie offered to accompany her.
Prior to leaving, she made it her mission to sow the seeds of reconciliation among her family, in the hope that they’d be able to repair their fractured relationships in her absence.
She certainly made a good start, making up with Gina Knight (Francesca Henry) after an argument about her relationship with Freddie.
After saying their goodbyes, Anna and Freddie headed off hand in hand to start a new adventure together.
Taking to Instagram, actress Molly Rainford spoke out about her exit, alongside a carousel of pictures from her time working on the London-based soap.
‘Your girl Anna Knight is off to Australia,’ she wrote. ‘I can’t put into words just how wonderful the last few years at EastEnders has been.’
Reflecting on her storylines during her time on the show, she continued: ‘Anna’s laughed, cried, worked and lived in the Vic (still surreal), been in a love triangle, been spiked, got pregnant, had tough conversations about Race and her mum came back from the dead. No wonder she needs a break from Walford.’
She went on to commend the cast and crew for the way she was treated during her two-year stint, revealing that she had ‘so many lovely memories’.
‘It really is a family, the cast and crew are truly special. I’m gonna miss working alongside them everyday. Especially the lovely Knights, Beales and Peacock/Carters. Couldn’t have asked for better people to learn from and laugh with day in and day out.
‘I want to thank everyone so much for all the love and support, it means the absolute world.’
Could she return as Anna Knight in EastEnders?
To finish her message, Molly left a hint that she could be set to return, alongside a winking face.
‘And lets be honest, no one goes travelling forever…’
Could Anna and Freddie be set to return to the Square once they’ve finished travelling?
The cast of EastEnders wasted no time in offering their best wishes to the young actress in the comments of her post.
‘Big love Molly time to shine,’ Shiv Jalota, who plays Vinny Panesar, wrote, while Amy Mitchell actress Ellie Dadd said: ‘You are very very dearly missed, so glad our paths crossed can’t wait to see you shine in everything you go on to do.’
‘Love and miss you,’ Elaine Peacock star Harriet Thorpe wrote, adding: ‘thank you for such fabulous fun, working with you has been such a joy and of you were so brilliant tonight moving, beautiful and wonderful as always!’
‘Oh Molly!! You are missed! Can’t wait to see what is next,’ Jacqueline Jossa, who plays Lauren Branning, penned, while on-screen sister Francesca Henry wrote: ‘miss you always.’
Away from EastEnders, Molly has already been busy, competing in Celebrity Race Across the World with radio DJ fiancé Tyler West.
The pair met while taking part in Strictly Come Dancing and got engaged earlier this year.
