Why It’s a Good Deal
If you’re into rock climbing, you probably own at least one pair of approach shoes—those sturdy, grippy kicks that help you hike to the crag and stay upright on steeper rocky terrain. But what about post-climb? Tired feet need a comfy recovery shoe because traditional approach shoes aren’t usually very good for soothing aches and pains. That’s what makes the versatile Arc’teryx Kragg such a compelling option, and it just went on sale at REI.
Arc’teryx Kragg Shoes are on sale for $112 during REI’s Cyber Week sale, a very rare 30% discount off their normal price of $160. These shoes are available in four colors at this price, and you can order them in sizes 8 to 13. Most of the Arc’teryx gear featured during this sale has sold through very fast, so don’t want to get your size if you really want a pair.

What Shoppers Should Know
- Upper: Spacermesh fabric
- Midsole: Insite Contoura foam
- Outsole: Vibram Megagrip
- Special Feature: Collapsible heel, removable insoles
- Best For: Casual wear, rock climbing, post-adventure recovery
The Kragg offers the comfort of a recovery shoe with the lockdown grip and snug fit of an approach shoe. The shoe has a unique collapsible heel: You can raise the heel for a secure fit (elastic gores create a close wrap around the foot), or collapse it and wear the Kragg like a slip-on shoe for casual wear around the campsite.
Inside, the Kragg features a cushy EVA foam insole and a polyurethane foam sockliner for a comfortable ride, even on hard, rocky surfaces. The upper is made from a single layer of Spacemesh fabric—it stretches to accommodate your foot and also has an antimicrobial treatment to ward off odors. The molded toe bumper protects your foot from scrapes and bumps, and on the bottom, the Vibram Megagrip rubber outsole generates lockdown traction and offers good durability, too.

What Shoppers Are Saying
REI shoppers have been loving the Kragg’s cushioned ride and versatility. One called them “comfortable and functional” and said wearing them “feels like you’re walking on marshmallows without sacrificing traction.”
“The flip-down heel makes them so great for jumping in and out of climbing shoes in the gym or at the crag,” said another shopper. A third reviewer praised the Kragg’s “cushy” feel and loved them for casual wear: “These are my go-to everyday shoes.”
With its slide-like comfort and go-anywhere traction, the Kragg shoe is a really unique style that any climber or camper will appreciate—and at a cool 30% off, now’s the perfect time to try a pair. Act fast, though, because REI’s Cyber Week sale ends on Dec. 8, and this deal goes with it.
