Amazon Puts 3rd Gen Google Nest Doorbell Called a ‘An Excellent Home Security Device’ on Sale at 23% Off

These days, it feels like there are constantly new headlines about a slew of porch pirates stealing packages from the front of people’s homes. On top of that, videos of front porch thefts seem to regularly go viral on social media. With many people currently preparing for the holiday season, the number of packages being delivered is exploding. Sadly, those kinds of thefts are only one example of the reasons why it is smart for people to capture footage of the events that take place outside their front door.

Fortunately, there is a great opportunity for people who’ve been considering getting a camera to monitor the events that take place outside their home. Amazon is offering a significant discount on a doorbell camera with a slew of highly sought-after features.

Anyone interested in adding a new security feature to their home can currently buy the 3rd Gen wired Google Nest Doorbell on Amazon for 192.30. The product’s regular price is listed as 249.01, which means that the company is offering a 23% discount. However, that price only applies to the Hazel and Linen colored versions of the Doorbell camera. The white model, which is a more updated version of the image above, is only 22% off, which results in it costing $193.67.

While that is a significant sale, shoppers will need to consider more information about the costs of the product before purchasing. Since the Google Nest Doorbell is a wired product, it requires a 16-24VAC, 10-40VA, 50/60Hz rated doorbell transformer and chime to be installed, which is sold separately. Several devices that meet those requirements can currently be purchased on Amazon for less than $30. Additionally, purchasers will need to have the Google Nest Doorbell installed once it arrives, which could incur more costs. It also has to be noted that a paid subscription is required to take full advantage of this device’s potential, as this article will detail later.

The Google Nest Doorbell has another cost advantage over many other similar products on the market. Since it is wired into your home, owners won’t need to spend the money on batteries to keep it running. There is also no need to remember to change batteries to retain its security features for the same reason.

PC World Called the 3rd Gen Google Nest Doorbell an ‘Excellent Home Security Device’

Amazon’s listing of the Google Nest Doorbell reveals that the device features many highly sought-after security components. For example, its night vision-capable 2K camera with a wide 166-degree diagonal field of view captures clear footage, it is 2-way audio compatible, and it can be used to watch live footage. As informative as that definitely is, a third party’s take on the device is much more revealing.

In November 2025, PC World reviewed the Google Nest Doorbell and offered extensive praise for the device. Based on its native capabilities, the outlet called the product an “excellent home security device” and pointed out that up to six hours of 10-second event recordings can be captured without any subscriptions.

As part of its review, PC World stated that pairing the Google Nest Doorbell with a Gemini subscription is a “game changer” in terms of how the device can be used. As of the time of this writing, a Gemini subscription costs $20 per month, but it is possible to get a free trial month.

With a Gemini subscription, users will get advanced notifications informing them of events outside their home, like being informed that a package has been delivered or a person with flowers is on your doorstep. It is also possible to search your video archive with words that describe events, like the dog being taken out, instead of poring over endless footage. The Gemini software can also be taught to recognize the faces of specific people, which helps inform users of who is at your door and becomes helpful for the search feature. That said, PC World detailed their experiences that showed that the face recognition abilities can be unreliable. Gemini can also summarize the events the camera captures daily with an activity log, or Home Brief, which creates a list of time-stamped events complete with thumbnails to look over.
