Tess Dalyand Claudia Winkleman have received special instructions ahead of their Strictly Come Dancing farewell.

The iconic presenting duo announced earlier this year that this season of Strictly will be their last.

After hosting the flagship BBC Saturday night show since 2014, the pair admitted that the reality of their imminent departure has not yet fully sunk in.

Appearing on Strictly’s sister show, It Takes Two, last night, Daly told host Fleur East: ‘I genuinely haven’t had time to think about it, because we’ve been so into this series, so absorbed by it – it’s such a brilliant series that all of our focus is on that, really. So I think it’d be a bit of a shock on the 20th. I might get emotional.’

Winkleman echoed her co-host’s sentiments by adding: ‘I think we will be emotional, but of course, it won’t be about us. It’ll be about the winners.’

However, interjecting, Daly revealed that ‘we’re not allowed to cry’, to which Winkelman responded: ‘We’re not, but afterwards, we will hold each other very tight and cry. Because it’s a lot.’

Daly, 56, has been an integral part of the series since it first aired on the BBC in 2004, initially presenting alongside the late Sir Bruce Forsyth.

Winkelman, 53, fronted the weekday companion show, It Takes Two, before joining Daily on the main show in 2014 following Sir Bruce’s departure.

Last month, it was rumoured that Alan Carr could replace Tess and Claudia on Strictly.

The Celebrity Traitors victor was said to be in the running for the highly coveted BBC One ballroom floor gig.

However the 49-year-old, who became a scene-stealer in the Scottish castle, threw cold water on the speculation, saying to the Radio Times: ‘Apparently my name is in the hat, which is an honour, but I haven’t spoken to anyone at the BBC.’

This weekend will see the semi-final of the dance competition (Picture: Guy Levy/BBC/PA Wire)

In the latest Strictly results show, former Love Island star Amber Davies and her dance partner Nikita Kuzmin narrowly escaped elimination after finding themselves in the bottom two.

Shockingly, Emmerdale actor Lewis Cope – who was one of the tournament favourites – and professional dancer Katya Jones were voted off the show following a tense dance-off.

Davies now joins Eastenders star Balvinder Sopal, internet personality George Clarke and former sports broadcaster Karen Carney as semi-finalists.

The couples will now perform two new routines on Saturday, with the results show following on Sunday.

They will also be joined by Australian singer Kylie Minogue and boyband Five who will be performing.

Yesterday, Winkelman attended an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle, where she was presented with her MBE by the King.

Accompanied by her mother, father and film producer husband, Kris Thykier, King Charles gave Winkelman her honour.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday night on BBC One.
