Before she started working for the University of Michigan athletics, Paige Shiver, the daughter of veteran Chicago Bears scout Jeff Shiver, was profiled by the team because of an illness she was fighting.
The profile story in 2016 on the Chicago Bears website describes Shiver as “an active college student” at that time, who, before she was sick, “would go on 30-minute runs, take cycling classes and lift weights virtually every day without getting tired.” In 2015, while she was a junior at Purdue, she started to feel “exhausted” with pain “throughout her body.” During college, she had a marketing internship in Baton Rouge, LA, and “she knew something was wrong,” the Bears said.
“I would go for a run and couldn’t run for more than five minutes because my lungs started getting affected,” said the then-22-year-old from West Lafayette, Ind., to the Bears organization. “It was really hard to catch my breath and my legs felt really heavy, like I could barely lift them up.”
Paige Shiver Was Diagnosed With Pompe Disease
Shiver was eventually diagnosed with Pompe Disease, “a rare, progressive disorder that disables the heart and skeletal muscles and affects only about 1 in 40,000 people,” according to the Bears.
“I get a lot of pain throughout my body,” she wrote in a letter, according to the Bears. “When I am in pain, I am really in pain and there is nothing that can be done but hope and pray that it will go away. This disease has been such an impact on my life and sometimes I feel as if it has taken over my life because every day is a battle.”

Paige Shiver’s LinkedIn & X Pages Are Deleted, Although Other Social Media Accounts Are Active
Shiver’s Instagram page is set to private. Her LinkedIn and X pages have been deleted. The cache for the deleted LinkedIn page says she was working as an executive assistant to now-fired University of Michigan Coach Sherrone Moore. Shiver’s Facebook page, which links her to Jeff Shiver, shows only her profile picture and a cover photo.
Michigan Athletics still listed Paige Shivers as executive assistant to the head coach, although the coach, Sherrone Moore was fired on December 10. In 2022, Shiver was first added to the University of Michigan athletic staff as “Assistant Recruiting & Operations Coordinator,” according to Detroit Sports Nation. Her salary jumped from $58,025 to $90,000 in 2024-25, according to UM Salary.
She is from an athletic family. According to the Bears, Paige’s uncle, Emerson Kampen III “is an analyst and former player with the Butler University men’s basketball team.” That article says her dad Jeff Shiver was then “entering his 30th season with the Bears and his fifth as executive scout/assistant director of college scouting.”
Her high school bio in West Lafayette, Ind., said in 2013, “Paige graduated from Purdue with a degree in Retail Management and is now living in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. There she works for a retail company that has stores throughout the southern United States, from Florida to Texas, all of which are dedicated to corporate marketing.”
