Welcome to How I Do It, the series in which we give you a seven-day sneak peek into the sex life of a stranger.
This week we hear from construction communications manager, Harry*, 29, who met his girlfriend Angie*, 28, on Hinge a year ago.
They both own their own flats, and although they plan to move in together soon, for now they’re enjoying their independence – and still managing to have sex four times a week on average.
‘We have a really healthy and relaxed sex life because we’ve built good levels of trust and communication,’ Harry tells Metro. ‘It’s also fun, because we’re both confident enough to say what we like.’
Most of their sex is spontaneous, although they’ve made an effort to have a long-standing date night on Wednesdays to give them something to look forward to.
‘I really value our connection and I’m looking forward to building a life together,’ he adds. ‘Yes there will probably be more arguments about who’s turn it is to do the washing up – but we’re both prepared for that step now.’
Without further ado, here’s how Harry got on this week…
The following sex diary is, as you might imagine, not safe for work.

Today is a reset day for Angie and I – which means spending the day apart.I head straight back to my flat when I finish work and she stays at hers.
We do this partly because we’re both always tired and partly because we like to start the week with a bit of space. I think it’s healthy for us, although I suspect when we move in together in February we’ll have to invent new ways of not driving each other mad.
We’ve talked openly about how we’ll manage it; things like evenings to ourselves, or even sitting in separate rooms just doing our own thing. There’s no fear around it, more a shared understanding that independence actually makes us better together.
Tonight, we catch up over the phone, sharing stories about our day and talking through what the rest of the week might look like.
We don’t usually get sexual over the phone, but sometimes it’s flirtatious. It’s more tone than content: the way she lowers her voice, the way she laughs when she knows she’s said something a bit charged.
Tonight it’s just playful teasing, nothing full-on, but enough that I feel that familiar pull towards her even though we’re not in the same room. It sets the rhythm and gives us something to look forward to later in the week.
Sometimes the pause makes the anticipation stronger.
Tuesday
After a long day of work, Angie comes over to mine. We cook dinner together, pasta, garlic bread, and open a bottle of wine. Then, we put on some music, laugh about the day, and curl up on the sofa.
There’s a gentle shift towards a more intimate moment, which Angie initiates by learning her head against my shoulder and resting her hand against my chest. Then she looks up at me with that expression that says she’s ready to be a bit closer. That’s all it takes.
We begin kissing slowly – it’s the kind that makes everything else fade. While we’re quite vanilla in the bedroom, tonight Angie takes charge and gets on top until I finish. Then we move to the bedroom and have sex again, and I repaid the favour in the doggy style position.
It’s all very relaxed and unhurried – I love how close and connected it makes us feel.
Wednesday
Tonight is our set date night, something we try to keep consistent with every week. This time we’ve booked a table at a local Italian, dressed up a bit, and are treating it as a proper evening out.
It’s important to me because we’re being intentional when we spend time together. Angie isn’t just someone I share a routine with, she’s someone I’m still choosing, actively, every week.
Afterwards we head back to hers, open another bottle of wine, and I sleep over. I have a later start at work tomorrow so I initiate playful and drawn-out sex.
It’s the kind of night where everything feels heightened; the way she touches me, the way she smiles mid-kiss, the quiet in the room.
Neither of us are feeling particularly adventurous tonight, so we have sex in missionary for about five to 10 minutes. It’s the highlight of my week, because the sex feels indulgent, and these stolen moments help keep the spark alive.
Thursday
I head home before work while Angie is in meetings all day. Thursdays are normally busy for us, so tonight we don’t see each other.
We do message during the day though, sharing little updates and talking about the weekend.
There’s obviously no sex, but I don’t mind the shift in focus. Days like today remind us that being present in each other’s lives doesn’t always mean being physically together.

Friday
Another evening where I head over to Angie’s for a night together. We order takeaway and pick a film, but just as it starts she pulls me towards her.
It starts with laughter, teasing, and a kiss that lingers longer than planned. One thing leads naturally to the next, but the sofa isn’t the most comfortable (and neither of us are the most flexible) so we move to the bedroom to finish what we’ve started.
I don’t put in any of the work this time as do it in reverse cowgirl, before I finish and we lay next to each other catching our breath. I love feeling wrapped up in something that belongs only to us.
Saturday
Saturday is usually our busiest day together. We spend the afternoon out getting coffee, having a walk by the river, and browsing the shops.
When we finally get back to mine in the afternoon, there’s this spark between us that’s been building all day. The kind of tension that comes from the little touches while walking, the way she grabs my arm when she laughs, the way we look at each other.
By the time we’re alone , that energy spills over in a way that feels spontaneous and exciting.
We tried the lotus position as her friends had been chatting about it. It’s quite similar to cowgirl but the man is sat down on his butt with his legs crossed. I recommend it, as we both lasted 20 minutes, and she swears blind she finished.
I love that we trust each other and can explore sexually without awkwardness – we feel safe with each other.
We head out for dinner and drinks before retiring home to get some sleep.
Sunday
Today we have a lazy breakfast, stay in bed, and end up being intimate again before Angie heads home.
We do a fair bit of foreplay before moving into missionary, and end up having sex for hour in total if you include the warm up. It’s comforting and affectionate – rounding off the week perfectly.
We talk about plans for the next few days, share little jokes, and just enjoy being together.
Sundays are comfort days, and that intimacy sets the perfect tone for the week ahead.
