Cody Gakpo will miss Liverpool’s Premier League match against Brighton on Saturday due to a muscle injury.

The Netherlands international, who has five goals and four assists in all competitions this season, missed Liverpool’s 1-0 win away to Inter in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Speaking at his press conference on Friday, Slot revealed that Federico Chiesa is also available after missing the trip to Milan due to illness.

However, Slot was unable to put a specific timeframe on Gakpo’s return.

‘It’s going to be weeks,’ Slot said.

‘With Cody it’s a muscle injury and Wata [Wataru Endo] is an ankle injury.’

Will Mohamed Salah play for Liverpool against Brighton?

Slot also revealed that Mohamed Salah’s availability for Liverpool’s game at Anfield this weekend depends on further talks on Friday.

After slamming Liverpool in an interview after the 3-3 draw with Leeds United at Elland Road last Saturday, Salah was left out of the squad for the win against Inter.

‘I will have a conversation with Mo this morning and the outcome of that conversation determines how things will look tomorrow,’ Slot said.

‘I think the next time I speak about Mo should be with him and not in here. You can keep on trying but there is not much more to say about it today.’

‘After the Sunderland game there have been a lot of conversation between his representatives and ours, between him and me.’

Asked if he wants Salah to stay at Liverpool, Slot replied: ‘I have no reasons to not want Salah to stay.’
