Liverpool legend Ian Rush spent around 48 hours in intensive care after suffering from beathing difficulties.
The 64-year-old, who remains Liverpool’s all-time leading scorer with 346 goals, was taken to Countess of Chester Hospital after falling ill at home last week.
According to the Daily Mail, Rush was taken to hospital ‘within minutes’ after concerns were raised.
The report adds that Rush is ‘recovering well’ and is said to be ‘in good spirits’, although he remains in hospital.
It is suspected that Rush is a victim of the ‘superflu’ outbreak which has swept the country.

Earlier this week, the NHS was warned that the UK is facing a ‘tidal wave’ of infections due to the new strain of flu.
A Liverpool spokesperson thanked hospital staff and said: ‘Everyone at Liverpool wishes him a speedy recovery.’
Rush, who remains a Liverpool ambassador, won five league titles, five League Cups, three FA Cups and two European Cups during his playing career at Anfield.
Rush was also Wales’ top scorer with 28 goals before his record was broken by Gareth Bale in 2018.
The 64-year-old is still a regular at Liverpool games having retired in 2000.
