Ever since Seth Rogen’s hit Apple TV show The Studio wrapped up its first season back in May, fans have been eagerly awaiting news of the second season, which was announced a day before the season 1 finale.
In the months that followed, updates on the new season were few and far between. However, a recent update from Rogen will have fans optimistic that season 2 might be coming sooner than they’d even hoped.
Show Renewed For Season 2
The hit comedy series was officially renewed for a second season before the season finale of the first season even aired back in May, and it sounds like the show’s creators have no shortage of ideas.
“We already had 30 ideas for episodes. 20 more showed up between seasons,” co-creator Evan Goldberg said during an interview with Deadline back in August. “We have so many ideas. And so, it’s been a real pleasure to sit down and just choose which 10 are going to be the ones.”
However, during that interview, Goldberg also shared that the second season of the show was still in the process of being written.
Filming Set to Begin
The hit show picked up several awards at Sunday night’s Golden Globes. And during an interview with the press backstage, Rogen revealed that the series is expected to begin filming next week.
Rogen also indicated that some things that happened in the events leading up to the Golden Globes might even make it into the show.
“We’ve literally written some things that happened leading up to this award show into episodes as we’ve been writing the show. We start shooting in a week,” Rogen said via Variety. “So yes, several things have happened, both today and leading up to this event that we have written directly into the show, and you’ll probably know what they are when you see them.”
And it sounds like they will have no shortage of possible celebrity cameos.
“A lot of people literally just come up to us and were like, ‘Put me on your show. I’ll do anything. I’ll walk by!’” Rogen said. “It’s very lovely. The head of Sony, Tom [Rothman, the chairman and CEO of the Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group]. I love that real studio heads want to be on the show.”
Season 2 Coming Sooner Than You Think?
Given that season 1 of The Studio began filming in March of 2024 and ultimately premiered on Apple TV+ a year later, in March of 2025, it would make sense that the second season would follow a similar timeline.
If that is the case, fans could expect the second season of the hit show to hit the streaming service around January of 2027 or perhaps at the beginning of 2026 if things go smoothly.
All in all, that’s a pretty quick turnaround when some shows take multiple years to produce.
