The grooming story in Coronation Street has taken quite the twist recently as we’ve seen that sex predator Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon) thinks she might be pregnant.
Megan has been conducting an illicit relationship with Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale) since she met him in Hull when she was working as a sports coach.
Besotted with Megan, Will didn’t want to leave Hull when the rest of the family moved to Weatherfield. His family, totally unaware of the real and damaging role Megan is really playing in Will’s life, has unwittingly allowed the abuse to continue by paying for Megan to come to Weatherfield to give promising athlete Will private coaching sessions.
They’ve welcomed her into their lives and their home, totally oblivious to the fact that Megan has been manipulating and grooming their boy.
And now, after Bertie accidentally pulled a pregnancy test out of her bag at his party, it seems that there’s a good chance Megan is pregnant. But there are two potential fathers – her official boyfriend Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), and her teenage victim Will.
Megan told Daniel that the pregnancy test wasn’t hers and he believed her, although Alya (Sair Khan) didn’t and, assuming the baby would be Daniel’s, urged Megan to talk to him.
In upcoming episodes, Megan tells Will that she has to go away for a while. Worried, he asks her if she’s ill. She’s clearly not feeling well as they soon head to the hospital, where they wait in A&E for Megan to be seen.
Before she can talk to a doctor, she risks being seen by somebody else – Will’s family.
Ben (Aaron McCusker) has been having chest pains and, fearing he’s having a heart attack, Eva (Catherine Tyldesley) insists on calling an ambulance. They head to Weatherfield General – unaware that Will and Megan are already there.
How will Megan and Will explain their presence in the hospital? Is Megan pregnant? Is Will the father?
As Coronation Street producer Kate Brooks told us, ‘It’ll be quite explosive when this all comes to light.
‘They’re a really strong family unit and they love each other and the heart of it is that love. It’s just how they manage to overcome these massive hurdles, how they protect Will, and what lengths they’re willing to go to.’
