Kaizer Chiefs make HUGE decision on captain Yusuf Maart!

Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly decided the future of their captain Yusuf Maart ahead of their pre-season camp. 

Maart will See his initial three-year deal with Chiefs expire on June 30, forcing the club to take action. 

Maart joined Chiefs as a marquee signing

The midfielder joined Chiefs from Sekhukhune United, for a deal reportedly between R10-12 million. There was much fanfare from the Amakhosi faithful upon his arrival at the club, with many calling for his signing. He started off in promising fashion, including two Soweto Derby goals in his first season. They would’ve been made sweeter seeing that he is an Orlando Pirates academy product. Maart’s stature at the club seemed to rise towards the end of the season. 

Maart began to take up a more senior role and become part of the leadership group at Chiefs. But the next two seasons would prove challenging as he would become a scapegoat of the supporters, with the club spiralling and him being captain, his head was firmly on the chopping block. With his deal set to expire, a large group of the fanbase was calling for his release. 

Set to extend his deal at the clun

But now according to SABC Sport, Maart is now set to stay at Chiefs and sign a new contract!

his agent has confirmed to SABC Sport.

“Yes, we are renewing his (Maart) contract (Chiefs) in the coming week,” his agent Karabo Tshabuse has confirmed to SABC Sport.

This will represent a big turnaround for Maart who rediscovered his from and became pivotal towards the end of last season. His stunning half volley against Pirates earned Chiefs the Nedbank Cup trophy. This making him the captain to finally break the 10-year trophy drought. It now seems as if he will be there to attempt to make more memories in the coming years.
