Table Mountain makes ‘Most Beautiful Mountains in the World’ list

It’s official: Table Mountain is officially one of the most beautiful mountains in the world.

Most recently, JustCover – a travel insurance company in Ireland – released a list dubbed “The Most Beautiful Mountains in the World”, based on a study that they conducted.

As a result, Table Mountain ranked quite highly. Take a look:

WHERE DID TABLE MOUNTAIN RANK?

The Cape Town-based Big 6 destination took 14th place – an impressive feat, considering that it snagged a spot among the 20 mountain ranges listed.

In order to conduct the survey research necessary for their list, JustCover showcased various images of 56 mountain ranges to a sample of 100 participants.

To measure their visual engagement – specifically, how quickly they looked at the images and how long they looked at them – the company utilised eye-tracking software.

The mountains were then ranked against a weighted “eye-catching” score of 100. Table Mountain scored 62.6.

It sits between Ireland’s Ben Bulben (13th place – 64.9) and Picos de Europa (15th place – 62.1).

Suffice to say, Table Mountain faced stiff competition. Take a squizz at the five mountains that topped the list:

  • Canadian Rockies, Canada – 99.3
  • El Capitan, United States of America – 84.9
  • Torres del Paine, Chile – 83.2
  • Slieve League, Ireland – 82.9
  • Errigal Mountain, Ireland – 75.8

Extending across Alberta and British Columbia, the Canadian Rockies are renowned for their “picture-perfect scenery, including the mirror-like waters of Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, as well as the breathtaking Icefields Parkway,” reports IOL.

Still, South Africans will always hold a special place in their hearts for Table Mountain, which already has an extensive list of accolades to its name, including being one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.
