Netflix has revealed a first-look trailer for a new documentary about Take That – and it looks as though it’s going to be a jaw-dropping watch.

The three-part series, which launches on January 27, offers a behind-the-scenes look at one of the UK’s most iconic boy bands of all time.

Introducing Gary Barlow, Jason Orange, Howard DonaldMark Owen and Robbie Williams as fresh-faced and young at the start of the trailer, the clip offers a look at their dizzying popularity as they travelled around the world.

Promising ‘exclusive unseen footage told in their own words’, each of the band members highlights how challenging it was to be a part of the band.

Speaking to the camera, Mark explains how ‘the more successful we became, the bigger audiences, it was also the beginning of the end for us as a band’.

The Take That documentary is directed by David Soutar. He was previously the director for films including Ed Sheeran’s The Sum of It All and Gavin & Stacey: A Fond Farewell.

Discussing the pressures he faced in being the main singer-songwriter, Gary also reveals the ‘unbelievable amount of pressure’ he was under.

He concluded by saying: ‘We were a business now, a money-making machine for a lot of people.’

Elsewhere in the documentary series, Netflix offers an illuminating look at their personal experiences in a band that captivated millions of fans, playing sold-out shows and selling over 45 million records worldwide.

Featuring 35 years of rare archive, never-before-seen footage, personal material, plus brand new interviews with Gary, Howard and Mark, fans already seem to be raving about the new release.

Taking to X, social media users expressed their excitement over the new project, especially in the wake of Robbie’s biographical film Better Man, which was released in 2024.

@HalfFull26 wrote: I will be tuning in for that! Such a throwback band!’, while @Rajputmahi012 added: ‘Netflix bringing back memories we grew up with’.

The series also offers an intimate look at the highs, the heartbreaks and the enduring legacy of Take That from their early beginnings as a five piece formed in Manchester to becoming pop superstars.

A synopsis for the series reads: ‘Relive the camaraderie, chaos, and resilience that fuelled their meteoric rise, dramatic split, and one of the greatest comebacks in British music history.

‘Told in their own words, this is the deeply personal and definitive story of Take That.’

All episodes of the Take That documentary will be available globally on Netflix from January 27.
