Heart-stopping moment hero lorry driver pulls up against burning building so trapped man can leap onto his trailer

THIS is the dramatic moment a lorry driver comes to the rescue of a man trapped in a burning building.

Thick plumes of smoke could be seen pouring out from the four-storey property in Granby Row, Dublin, yesterday.

He is then seen safely on the back of the truck

The lorry is shown reversing up as close as possible to the building, allowing the trapped man to jump out a window and safely land on the trailer.

Just before the lorry pulls up, the person can be heard shouting at people on the street for help.

He frantically screams “let me out” as horrified passersby gather below the burning building.

Footage shared online shows the Eurospar lorry arriving, putting its hazard lights on and backing up towards the building.

Taking a leap of faith through the smoke, the man – wearing a black hood and trousers – then jumps several metres onto the roof of the truck.

An audible thud can be heard as he successfully lands on the trailer.

Dublin Fire Brigade
