Mako and Monyane both thought to have signed for Chiefs
The defensive duo were both believed to be set to join Chiefs next week when their contracts officially expire Pirates. These being moves that came as a shock to many football lovers on the local front. This partly because it is normal normal that two players cross the floor at the same time the way Mako and Monyane have.
But just as the Chiefs and Pirates fans were getting used to the idea, the seems to be a twist! According to Soccer-Laduma sources, Amakhosi want just one of Mako or Monyane and have settled on the younger option!
Club now only wants Monyane?
“It’s believed that the player that the club (Chiefs) is really interested in is apparently Thabiso Monyane. They are saying they have been releasing players around the ages of 31 years to 34 years old, so then why should they sign a 31-year-old in Paseka Mako? You see Monyane is 25-years-old and has a long future ahead of him compared to Mako. That’s why they are more interested in Monyane than Mako,” said a source to the same publication.
Another source close to Chiefs confirms that the club are indeed looking to strengthen at left-back. They are, however, targeting younger players than Mako.
Mako snubbed?
“It’s not a secret the club (Chiefs) wants to boost that left back position but Paseka Mako was not on the list of the players to be considered. Yes, we know in football a lot can happen but the club’s priority lies with other players including the youngsters from the DDC like Kabelo Nkgwesa and Nkosana Mbuthu for now, and others as well that the team has been looking at,” said the second source.
