The Beckham family feud has hit new heights, with Brooklyn insisting he does not wish to ‘reconcile’ with his parents David and Victoria.
The 26-year-old has spoken out for the first time and acknowledged the feud between him and his family in a bombshell post on Instagram.
There have been rumours of fallouts ever since Brooklyn married Nicola Peltz, 30, three years ago, and speculation has mounted over the past few months after the hot sauce salesman appeared to block his parents on social media.
David and Victoria Beckham were conspicuously absent from Brooklyn’s vow renewal ceremony in August, and Victoria’s recent Netflix documentary sparked even more questions.
The family has largely maintained a dignified silence on whispers of an ongoing feud, despite cryptic social media posts.
But Brooklyn’s unexplained absence from his dad David’s 50th birthday celebrations were enough to convince most fans that something is definitely afoot.
We’ve got you covered with a timeline of the family feud, all the rumours, and how it all began – let’s take you through it.
Brooklyn Beckham’s Instagram statement
After months of speculation and rumours surrounding the nature of his relationship with his parents, Brooklyn broke his silence in a shocking statement.
Taking to Instagram, the budding chef launched an astonishing takedown of dad Sir David Beckham, 50, and mum Victoria Beckham, 51.
He also came out in full force to defend his wife, and shared shocking details of alleged events at their wedding, claiming the Lola actress has been ‘consistently disrespected’ by his relatives.
Among his allegations, the former photographer and eldest Beckham child accused his family of ‘bribery’ and ‘controlling’ him.
He also declared emphatically that he does not wish to reconcile with his former footballer pro dad and fashion designer mum, despite recent swirling reports that a reunion could be on the cards.
Brooklyn Beckham’s explosive statement in full
‘I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.
‘I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.
‘For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family. The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into. Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they’ll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out.
‘My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped. My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress. Weeks before our big day, my parents repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife, and our future children. They were adamant on me signing before my wedding date because then the terms of the deal would be initiated. My holdout affected the payday, and they have never treated me the same since.
‘During the wedding planning, my mum went so far as to call me “evil” because Nicola and I chose to include my Nanny Sandra, and Nicola’s Naunni at our table, because they both didn’t have their husbands. Both of our parents had their own tables equally adjacent to ours.
‘The night before our wedding, members of my family told me that Nicola was “not blood” and “not family”. Since the moment I started standing up for myself with my family, I’ve received endless attacks from my parents, both privately and publicly, that were sent to the press on their orders.
‘Even my brothers were sent to attack me on social media, before they ultimately blocked me out of nowhere this last Summer.
‘My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song. In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead.
‘She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone, I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life. We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment.
‘My wife has been consistently disrespected by my family, no matter how hard we’ve tried to come together as one. My mum has repeatedly invited women from my past into our lives in ways that were clearly intended to make us both uncomfortable.
‘Despite this, we still travelled to London for my dad’s birthday and were rejected for a week as we waited in our hotel room trying to plan quality time with him. He refused all of our attempts, unless it was at his big birthday party with a hundred guests and cameras at every corner.
‘When he finally agreed to see me, it was under the condition that Nicola wasn’t invited. It was a slap in the face. Later, when my family travelled to LA, they refused to see me at all.
‘My family values public promotion and endorsements above all else. Brand Beckham comes first. Family “love” is decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo opp, even if it’s at the expense of our professional obligations. We’ve gone out of our way to show up and support at every fashion show, every party, and every press activity to show our “perfect family”. But the one time my wife asked for my mum’s support to save displaced dogs during the LA fires, my mum refused.
‘The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards, I have been controlled by my parents for most my life. I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared. I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief.
‘My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press or manipulation. All we want [is] peace, privacy, and happiness for us and our future family.’
Brooklyn asked his parents to ‘talk to him through lawyers’
The latest twist in this tale came on January 9, when it was revealed that in late 2025, Brooklyn had reportedly shared a legal letter with his parents requesting that he only be contacted through his lawyers.
A source told the Daily Mail: ‘David was told to speak to them via Schillings. That was the only way for them to communicate.’
Despite this drastic action, The Sun reported some good news. Apparentl the eldest Beckham son is in contact with his grandparents – David and Sandra (Sir David’s parents) and Anthony and Jackie (Victoria’s parents).
‘Brooklyn absolutely adores them, and knows how much pain this is causing everyone,’ they report. ‘So he has reached out in his own time, but tried to keep it low-key so as not to drag them into it.’
The Beckham Christmas
Hopes of the warring sides coming together for the festive season were quickly dashed on Christmas Day. Brooklyn was nowhere to be seen in the Beckham’s traditional Christmas photos, instead choosing to celebrate at his in-laws house.
While the Beckham clan remained tight-lipped on the situation, Brooklyn was seen to have taken a swipe at his relatives when he posted a picture of a tattoo dedicated to Nicola alongside the caption ‘My everything’.
Over the New Year, Sir David was seen to extend an olive branch to his estranged son, sharing an Instagram story with a picture of him and Brooklyn with the caption ‘I love you all so much,’ but Brooklyn failed to react to the post.
Cruz claims Brooklyn ‘blocked’ their parents
Just days before Christmas, Cruz responded to reports that David and Victoria had suddenly unfollowed Brooklyn on Instagram, insisting all wasn’t as it seemed.
Cruz, 20, was quick to address the claims, taking to his Instagram to write: ‘NOT TRUE. My mum and dad would never unfollow their son… Let’s get the facts right. They woke up blocked… as did I.’
Brooklyn now no longer follows any immediate family members, but does follow his grandparents, David’s mum and dad Ted and Sandra. He also follows his aunts, David’s sisters Lynne and Joanne.
From his mum’s side, Brooklyn follows his grandmother Jackie Adams, and Victoria’s sister Louise.
The move comes after it was reported that Brooklyn won’t be spending Christmas with his family this year, despite David sharing an olive branch to his son earlier this week.
Victoria Beckham’s new documentary offers more questions than answers
Victoria’s new self-titled Netflix documentary got quite personal, and fans were sure it might finally address the Brooklyn feud directly.
But the new three-part series, from the Emmy award-winning directors of her husband David’s series BECKHAM, gives viewers a front row seat as we watch Victoria evolve from a self-proclaimed ‘loner’ child to preparing for her Spring/Summer show at Paris Fashion Week -but it essentially ignores the existence of Brooklyn.
A sense of anticipation builds as you await a bombshell explanation in the final scenes about his noticeable absence from the documentary. But beyond flashbacks to their earlier years living in America, the eldest of the Beckham children isn’t mentioned.
Nicola and Brooklyn renew their vows – without his family
Three years on from their wedding day, Nicola and Brooklyn pledged new promises to one another in a vow renewal ceremony. However, it seemed his parents weren’t present at the August 3 ceremony.
Brooklyn’s Instagram followers spotted that not only were Victoria and David absent, but that Nicola’s dad Nelson officiated the ceremony.
A source told The Sun: ‘This was the final kick in the teeth for David and Victoria. Seeing Nelson having such a pivotal role at the ceremony was heartbreaking for David especially. Not one member of the 30-plus extended family knew about the wedding, or were invited.
His grandparents are devastated too as Brooklyn has always been so close to them.’
The source added: ‘It feels cruel and spiteful. This is no longer a game. It has gone beyond all that. This is a family who feel they have lost their precious boy – and see no way back.
‘Honestly, they are now questioning why he even wants to keep the ‘Beckham’ surname – will he revert to Peltz? August 2nd 2025 – is this the day Brooklyn formally declared himself no longer a part of the Beckham family? It certainly feels like it.’
Meanwhile, Victoria and David vacationed in St. Tropez with their other four children while Brooklyn remained in the States.
Brooklyn appears to unfollow brothers Cruz and Romeo
The budding chef’s bond with brothers Cruz and Romeo Beckham came into question in July, after it was revealed that the brothers no longer followed each other on Instagram.
Romeo and Cruz also appeared to unfollow Nicola Peltz three years after she joined the family.
However, sources close to the 26-year-old denied he is the one who unfollowed his brothers.
‘Brooklyn had no idea until he read about it online. It’s possible Romeo and Cruz blocked them, which would make it appear as if he no longer follows the brothers,’ the insider told The Sun.
‘He and Nicola certainly didn’t unfollow them or block them – they’re as confused as anyone else. The first they heard about it was when it was being reported on,’ they added.
Brooklyn Beckham covers a tattoo dedicated to mum Victoria
The eldest Beckham boy proudly sports what he believes to be 100 tattoos, following in his football legend father’s footsteps by getting inked as soon as he could.
His designs mostly include tributes to Nicola, but there are also a few nods to his parents, such as ‘Mum’ in a heart on his shoulder and ‘Joseph’ in cursive writing on his forearm, which is his middle name, handed down from David.
The former model has now covered up a tattoo he had done for Victoria in his early days of going under the needle.
He used to have ‘mama’s boy’ in a typewriter-style font over his heart, referencing their close relationship.
But in June, it was revealed that the words have been hidden within a sketch of Nicola’s bouquet from their wedding day.
Brooklyn and Nicola’s dinner with Harry and Meghan
It was recently claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle invited Brooklyn and Nicola to dinner to show their support.
It’s said they extended an ‘unexpected invite’ to the young couple, as they bonded over similar ‘toxic’ family experiences, as a source told The Sun that the quartet dined at the Sussexes’ £11million mansion in Montecito, California.
It’s claimed ‘Harry was fully aware of the situation and offered Brooklyn his unwavering support as someone who has been through similar, while Meghan and Nicola found ‘common ground’ after both parties were accused of causing a rift in their husbands’ families.
Brooklyn and Nicola miss David’s birthday
Rumours of a rift have only increased after Brooklyn and Nicola didn’t attend any of his dad David’s 50th birthday celebrations in May.
A source told Metro that Brooklyn is keen to patch things up with his father and was sad not to attend his big bash.
‘Brooklyn feels disappointed in himself for not attending David’s 50th birthday party,’ they said. ‘He wants things to go back to how they were, but it feels as if the divide has separated the family deeply.’
And an insider explained that Victoria was desperately hoping her son will ‘come around’.
‘She’s hoping Brooklyn will come around and see things for what they are,’ they said. ‘They’ve always been a close-knit family and seeing how things are now has been devastating for Victoria and David.’
Not only did he miss the party, but he wasn’t on David’s ‘boys’ fishing trip with Cruz and Romeo – something the former footballer acknowledged on social media, tagging Brooklyn in pictures from their trip and saying: ‘You were missed.’
Brooklyn also remained silent on Father’s Day and did not mention the former footballer’s knighthood on social media, but fueled further speculation when he later posted a sweet message for his father-in-law, Nelson Peltz, on his birthday.
Brooklyn and Romeo’s ‘fallout over Kim Turnbull’
In April, Cruz was forced to rubbish rumours his brothers were feuding after Romeo’s girlfriend Kim.
Fans have claimed she dated Brooklyn first, alleging it caused a rift between the siblings.
In a now-deleted message, one person commented on Romeo and Kim’s holiday snaps, ‘It’s appropriate to date your brother’s ex too? Cool’, but Cruz replied: ‘Brooklyn and Kim never dated.’
Victoria and Nicola Peltz’s wedding dress drama
In 2022, there were reports Nicola had refused to wear one of fashion icon Victoria’s designs for the big day.
‘No family is perfect. No family,’ she told the Sunday Times in October that year, explaining that she, her mother, Victoria, and her longtime stylist were in a text chain discussing bridal designer ideas.
Victoria reportedly messaged Nicola’s mother to say her atelier wouldn’t be able to make the dress in time, and so they regrouped and ‘came up with something else’.
