LEXINGTON, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Eighteen people were struck by lightning at a South Carolina park Tuesday, the national weather service reports.
The NWS Columbia office says that the strike occurred just before 5 p.m. at the Lake Murray Public Park, 14 miles west of downtown Columbia.
Lexington County Fire, Irmo Fire, Lexington County EMS and Lexington County Sheriff responded to the Dominion Beach Park for an electrocution.
Lexington County Fire reports that 20 patients were assessed and 12 were transported 12 to three local hospitals. Eight patients assessed were adults and 12 juveniles.
