Season 2 of Amazon’s Fallout has reportedly become the streamers fourth most-watched returning show ever—and the sixth most-watched show in general.
The show has become Amazon’s best-performing series since Reacher‘s third season, which was released almost one year ago. The only other series that has performed more strongly than Fallout is The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, whose first two seasons are among Prime Video’s most watched.
Fallout is adapted from the successful video game franchise of the same name, which centers around a group of survivors in the wake of a nuclear apocalypse who live in a high-tech bunker underground. The show’s second season expands the scope to New Vegas, another settlement in this nuclear wasteland.
Fallout Continues To Break Streaming Records
Speaking with Deadline, Amazon MGM boss Peter Friedlander said: “We are thrilled with the Fallout S2 reception from audiences and critics globally. After its first four weeks, Fallout S2 already ranks as the sixth most watched season ever on Prime Video and is even higher rated on Rotten Tomatoes than S1.”
“More than half of the season’s audience to-date has come from outside the U.S., and we’re excited for even more viewers to discover the show as we continue to release new episodes over the weeks ahead.”
Interestingly, Fallout‘s second season has shifted the episode rollout into a weekly schedule rather than the first season’s “binge” model. This makes it more difficult to accurately report the viewership data; Amazon has not provided any official statistics to date.
Deadline estimates that Fallout season 2 may have had a weaker premiere week performance than the show’s first season, but this will likely change as the show progresses towards the finale. Amazon announced back in 2024 that the first season of Fallout amassed 65 million viewers within the first 16 days of release.
New episodes of Fallout season 2 are available to stream every Wednesday on Amazon Prime Video, until the show’s finale on February 6.
