There are theories that Orlando Pirates have their best chance to win the Betway Premiership. However, Kaizer Chiefs are emerging as a surprise contender.
Kaizer Chiefs enter the title race, pressure on Orlando Pirates?
Chiefs clocked up an important win against Golden Arrows after the long AFCON break. The result puts them third on the Betway Premiership, two points behind leaders Sundowns. It also makes them legitimate title contenders with just over half the campaign to go. 21-year-old central midfielder Thulani Mabaso was on the bench for Chiefs and made a second-half cameo. The talented schemer has recently signed a professional deal with the club. Are Pirates feeling the heat, and will Sundowns be the biggest beneficiaries? The Sea Robbers meet Sekhukune on Saturday, 24 January at 15:30 in a match that Chiefs fans will be watching with great interest. Sundowns fans, too. The last time Babina Noko scored more than once in a game was in September, against Chiefs.
Rasebotja is back soon for Orlanfo Pirates
24-year-old Selaelo Rasebotja was signed from the now-defunct SuperSport United. However, injuries and squad competition have limited him to just 11 appearances since his arrival in July 2024.
Speaking to the media at the launch of the 2026 Nedbank Cup, the talented schemer said he was edging closer to a return:
“Right now, I am at a stage where I am slowly being integrated into full training,” Rasebotja responded when asked about his recovery by KickOff.
