McDonald’s Goes All In on This ‘Hot’ Food Trend

Wingstop isn’t the only fast food joint embracing hot honey in the new year. McDonald’s, never to be outdone, just announced a pretty sizable array of hot honey offerings that will be available at its stores starting January 27, reports Fox Business.

McDonald’s New Hot Honey Offerings

Wingstop‘s Hot Honey Trio and KFC’s Mike’s Hot Honey collab have sealed the deal that hot honey and chicken are the fast food world’s new Jim and Pam. So naturally, McDonald’s is responding by adding hot honey to its chicken offerings. There will be both a Hot Honey McCrispy sandwich and a Bacon Hot Honey McCrispy sandwich. No Hot Honey McChicken, but I guess you get what you pay for.

There’s also going to be a Hot Honey Snack wrap, which the chain touts has 17g of protein. Apparently, McDonald’s is also hopping on the protein trend, following chains like Dunkin’ and Starbucks, which both launched lines of protein drinks.

On the breakfast front, McDonald’s is also launching a Hot Honey Sausage Egg Biscuit, which it also touts has 17g of protein. Obviously, there will also be a Hot Honey dipping sauce available for McNuggets, fries, and anything else you may desire — even a DIY Hot Honey McChicken. Still no word on the return of Hot Mustard, though.

What People Think of McDonald’s Hot Honey

While it doesn’t officially launch for a few more days, some savvy eaters seem to have already gotten a taste of the new sauce. “McDonald’s has Hot Honey sauce and it is delicious,” one test subject wrote on X, alongside pictures of themself holding the sauce cup and dipping a fry in it. “There’s the sweet and spiciness going on.”

The Hot Honey McCrispy has actually been available in Canada since May 2025. Food YouTuber Ken Domik tried it at the time and said it lived up to its name. “Man, that’s spicy!” he exclaimed after taking a bite. “I think this is too spicy for the average person.”
