Indie rock band Death Cab for Cutie is hitting the road this summer. The North American Tour will also include Japanese Breakfast, Jay Som, and the Nation of Language at select locations.
The band has been prolific since launching its debut album in 1998, “Something About Airplanes,” and Spin magazine ranked their albums, declaring “Codes and Keys” as the best, although die-hard fans may have their own opinion.
Leaving Atlantic Records
The second piece of big news is that Death Cab has ended its 22-year partnership with Atlantic Records and signed with Anti Records, whose bands include Fleet Foxes, Jeff Tweedy, and The Promise Ring. The reason behind the split isn’t clear, but frontman Ben Gibbard is clearly excited.
Gibbard said the band is “thrilled to be joining the roster at Anti- which includes some of our favorite artists, old friends and in many cases, both.”
