Warning: This article contains spoilers from The Traitors series four final.

The Traitors star Faraaz has hit back at suggestions the show has become ‘nastier’ in its fourth series.

Last night, The Traitors ended with its most dramatic final to date to 9.3million viewers, as Stephen and Rachel became the first-ever pair of traitors to win a UK series by sticking by each other through thick and thin – even when the temptation to throw one another under the bus was staring them right in the face.

It was a sensational finish to a sensational series, but two casualties were thrown to the fire pit, with Faraaz and Jack narrowly missing out on £47,875 each.

There have been some of the most excruciating moments imaginable this series – from Fiona’s grenade to Harriet coming for Rachel at the roundtable – but even after coming so close to the prize money, Faraaz insists any suggestion the game had turned nasty ‘couldn’t be further from the truth’.

He told Metro: ‘I was actually astonished at how you can bring 22 people together and we all got on as well as we did. Sometimes when you get a group of people, you think, “Oh, I’m not going to talk to him — we’re not going to get on.” But you could literally go into any room with anyone and have a mint conversation.

‘Everyone was so nice, and it made the experience so much better on a human level. We built such close bonds, so that couldn’t be further from the truth for me. And from a game perspective, because we got on so well, we were able to have more difficult conversations and ask difficult questions, because we understood it was just a game.’

It’s been months since filming wrapped on The Traitors last summer, and now the dust has settled, the 22-year-old concedes that Rachel and Stephen’s success was the right outcome – though at the time, he admits he was furious.

Ultimately, despite coming close to catching Rachel, he was outplayed by the master strategist, whose FBI training clearly paid off. Rachel convinced Faraaz she had his back, only to banish him moments later at the fire pit.

Faraaz voted for Stephen in his final play of the game, but had he stuck to his guns and gone for Rachel – after being so convinced she was a traitor earlier – it could have been a very different story.

‘When I saw my name on Rachel’s slate, I knew I was done and I was absolutely seething – there was steam coming from my ears,’ he said. ‘You probably didn’t see it, but I was gutted.’

‘I was toying between the two, and I knew if I voted Rachel, that was me protecting myself. I realised that should have been the right thing to do, but I was like, “I know it’s Stephen!”

‘I was seething about that — at least for that short moment.’

With four series of The Traitors UK now complete and almost 100 players having taken part, the possibility of an All-Stars edition feels increasingly likely. So would Faraaz return – and would he play the game any differently?

Grinning, he said: ‘That sounds like music to my ears — I’d absolutely love that. But I’d play it exactly the same. You don’t want to draw unnecessary attention to yourself at the start, because you can’t win at the start — you can only lose.

‘I’d still rather cruise through and then get my point across, rather than speaking just for the sake of speaking.’

But first, Faraaz has big plans for 2026 now that the cat is out of the bag and series four is done and dusted, and he’s also earned himself a new nickname – ‘Farazaaha Christie’ – after compiling a mountain of evidence against the seemingly impenetrable Rachel, even if it all came crashing down at the final hurdle.

He revealed: ‘I’d love to see what opportunities are out there and just carry on being myself.

‘I have my own TikTok and Instagram channels where I do food reviews. I’ve been doing them for about a year now — I’m a massive foodie, as you could probably tell from the show — so I really want to carry on down that route: talking about food, travelling to different places and learning about different cultures.

‘I’m also a massive sports fan. I used to box, I play cricket, so anything that involves learning about different sports, getting hands-on and meeting new people, really.’

The Traitors is available to stream on BBC iPlayer now.
