Family ‘utterly devastated’ after beauty queen, 21, killed in ‘unforeseeable’ accident

WORDS BYLINE: Max Chesson / The heartbroken family of a beautiful, kind and popular young woman who died after a tragic accident say her "love and light will never fade". / Eleisha Skinner, a former Miss Faversham, was studying at Buckinghamshire New University in Wycombe and had dreams of being a social worker. / But the 21-year-old lost her life following what her family say was "an unforeseeable incident involving a parked vehicle" during severe, icy weather conditions. / She was taken to an Oxford hospital and "fought bravely" but was unable to recover, dying peacefully on January 8 with her loved ones by her side. / Her parents, Nigel and Clare Skinner, told KentOnline: "We are utterly devastated by the sudden loss of our precious girl. / "Writing these words feels unimaginable, yet we want the world to know who she truly was: a kind, selfless, passionate young woman who always put others before herself. / "Nothing was ever too much for Eleisha. She had a heart of gold and a smile that could light up any room." / A star pupil with a passion for learning, Eleisha thrived at school in Faversham, attending St Mary's Primary School and later The Abbey School. / At The Abbey, she became a vocal member of the school council, a peer mentor and head student in the Sixth Form, embracing every opportunity that came her way. / She flourished academically and socially and was always eager to get involved - whether organising the school prom or fundraising for the Faversham Fire Brigade. / "Her leadership, warmth, and dedication shone through. Her instinct to help others was always present," said her family. / Despite her outgoing nature, her family were surprised when she decided to put herself forward for Miss Faversham in 2022. / Demonstrating her beauty both inside and out, Eleisha was crowned and went on to represent the town at events across the county. / "Her love for her town and her genuine personality shone through," said the Skinners. / She embraced the role with pride, raising money for local charities and the carnival, and loved attending dances and events where she formed lifelong friendships. ...

A family have been left heartbroken after a young beauty contest winner was killed in a freak accident.

Eleisha Skinner, 21, died in an ‘unforeseeable incident’ involving a parked vehicle in icy weather conditions.

Despite fighting ‘bravely’ at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, she was pronounced dead on January 8.

Ms Skinner was a former Miss Faversham and dreamt of becoming a social worker.

Her parents, Nigel and Clare, said: ‘We are utterly devastated by the sudden loss of our precious girl.

Eleisha surprised her family when she put herself forward for the Miss Faversham award in 2022.

She was crowned the winner and went on to represent her town at events across the county, raising money for charities and the local carnival.

Her family added: ‘Her love for her town and her genuine personality shone through.

‘Her leadership, warmth, and dedication shone through. Her instinct to help others was always present.’

Eleisha was also voted as Miss Congeniality by the courts at the Miss Kent Dinner.

Aside from her work in the community, she had a passion for synchronised swimming and competed at the Kent Championships.

A GoFundMe page launched for the Thames Valley Air Ambulance has raised more than £2,000.

WORDS BYLINE: Max Chesson / A town is in mourning after a much-loved beauty queen died in a "tragic accident" - aged just 21. / Eleisha Skinner was Miss Faversham 2022 and has been described as a "truly lovely girl" with an "infectious smile" who always "spoke with love" about her family. / In a statement today, the Faversham Carnival Club said: "It is with deep regret and sadness that we have to let you know that our beautiful Miss Faversham 2022, Eleisha Skinner, died on January 8 following a tragic accident." / Further details of the incident have not yet been released - but a fundraiser has been launched by her family for the Thames Valley Air Ambulance, which covers Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. / The club's statement added: "Eleisha was a fantastic ambassador for Faversham and a truly lovely girl. We all have some lovely memories of our time spent with her. / "Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this devastating time. Eleisha will be missed by so many." / Scores more tributes have been posted online. / Caroline Kyaba wrote: "Eleisha was a beautiful soul with an infectious smile. She always spoke with love about her beautiful family. / "I remember her proudly sharing photos of her brother's graduation from the army, and the hope and confidence she had in him." / Chanelle Lawrence said: "It's always the best that get taken too soon. You were the heart of carnival, and I'm eternally grateful for the memories we made in the years we spent together." / Alun Sambrook added: "We only met a couple of times during your year of reign, but it was lovely to have known you." / A GoFundMe has been launched in Eleisha's name for the Thames Valley Air Ambulance, which the family says was "fantastic". / "With the amazing response of the emergency services, we were able to spend her last few days with her," they added. / So far, almost (pnd)2,000 has been raised, with dozens of donations in honour of the youngster. / A celebration of Eleisha's life will take place on Friday, February 6, at 2.30pm at St Mary of Charity Church, Faversham, followed by a wake at Judd's Folly, Faversham. ...

In a message on the fundraiser, her family said: ‘If her story can help save another family from experiencing such pain, then her legacy of kindness will continue.’

Tributes have been paid to Eleisha and her contribution to the community.

The Faversham Carnival Club said in a statement: ‘Eleisha was a fantastic ambassador for Faversham and a truly lovely girl. We all have some lovely memories of our time spent with her.

‘Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this devastating time. Eleisha will be missed by so many.’

A celebration of Eleisha’s life will take place on Friday, February 6, at 2.30pm at St Mary of Charity Church, Faversham, followed by a wake at Judd’s Folly, Faversham.
