Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) is struggling in the wake of two life-changing events in EastEnders.
The beloved character is still in the process of dealing with the death of son Anthony Trueman (Nicholas Bailey), and the fact he now has a new granddaughter.
Newcomer Jasmine Fisher (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness) was abandoned at the hospital by Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan), who believed she was stillborn.
She was kicked out by her adoptive mum and decide to ally with super bitch, Chrissie Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman) to seek revenge against her mum before learning that Anthony Trueman (Nicholas Bailey) was her real dad, and he’d not long been murdered.
Despite it looking like Chrissie dealt Anthony the final blow before scarpering and framing Zoe for the slaying, the latter has refrained from mentioning her nemesis to the police in order to keep her new-found daughter safe, and because of that, is looking at an incredibly long stretch.
In her absence, Jasmine has been taken in by Zoe’s mum and stepdad, Kat and Alfie Moon (Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie), though her previous hobby of stalking Zoe and turning the Slaters against each other has bitten her square on the rear, and she’s struggled to gel with the rest of the Slater/Moon clan, in particular, Jean (Gillian Wright), who’s suffered a mental health relapse, during which, her delusions have convinced her that Jasmine is an enemy, come to destroy the family.
On the advice of boyfriend, Oscar Branning (Pierre Counihan-Moullier), she reached out to her paternal grandad, Patrick, though he initially rejected her, still deeply affected by grief after his sons death.
In upcoming episodes, the difficult dynamic between Jasmine and what feels like the majority of Walford continues.
At the start of the week, Oscar heads to the pub and tells Kat that he’s looking for Jasmine, because they were planning on running away together.
Later, Kat faces braces herself as she faces a broken Patrick.
Missing his son and newfound relative, he accuses Kat of driving Jasmine away by putting so much pressure on her to help free Zoe.
A couple of days later, Kat takes it upon herself to find Jasmine and get the truth.
