Emmerdale fans going wild as much-loved legend declares ‘I’m back’

Emmerdale fans have been left in shock after Adam Thomas posed for a picture on the set of the ITV soap, declaring that he’s ‘back’.

The much-loved star, who played Adam Barton between 2009 and 2018, took to Instagram to share a snap taken at the village’s iconic sign.

‘I’m BACK!!!!’ he wrote on the social media platform, which garnered quite a response from excited fans.

‘WHATTTTTTT,’ exclaimed one Instagram user while fellow fan georginanicole wrote: ‘As a true @emmerdale fan who watches religiously, I am so happy to see this post!!’

Users @mcdevitt.nikki and @chloe_jking urged the news ‘to be true’, while another viewer asked: ‘As in actually [back] or just for a press conference type thing? Really really need you back!

‘But I also want you to stay in Waterloo Road too.’

Metro understands that Adam is not currently returning to Emmerdale and was on set for another reason.

The 36-year-old, who currently stars as Donte Charles in BBC One’s Waterloo Road, previously told Metro about his desire to reprise his Emmerdale role ’one day’

‘‘I’d like to go back one day, it’ll always hold a special place in my heart,’ he said last year.

‘I was a kid when I joined so I had some amazing memories there and I’d love to go back one day. I think my mum and my family are still in it and they’ve left the door open for me… you never know.’

Isabelle Hodgins, who plays Victoria Barton on the ITV soap, was also keen to see Adam back, saying last year: ‘I would adore it if he did come back.

‘ ‘I enjoyed working with him. I love him as a person. 

‘I also really believed Adam and Victoria, and I really liked my engagement ring, and I really miss wearing my ring.’
