Kinder Bueno fans are in for a treat, as a long-lost chocolate bar from the range is making an unexpected (but very welcome) comeback.
The dark version of the chocolate treat disappeared from supermarket shelves back in 2019, after being discontinued by Ferrero, which owns Kinder.
Now, seven years later, the bar has been spotted for sale in the UK once more, and it seems it’s making a triumphant return.
Dark chocolate Buenos are popping up in Tesco stores nationwide, and while they’re not currently listed for sale on the Tesco GB site, they are on Tesco Ireland’s website for €1.70, which is about £1.47.
Kinder Bueno Dark made its debut here in 2015, launching as a limited-edition product to test customer reaction.
It proved popular enough with shoppers that it was brought back in 2016, and the full-size bar remained available for the next few years, until it was ultimately axed.
While the regular chocolate bar was no longer being produced, smaller versions of the dark Bueno remained available inside Kinder Bueno Mini Mix packs.
For those who aren’t familiar with the sweet, it features the same classic smooth, milky hazelnut filling encased in wafer as other Kinder Bueno bars, but is covered in dark chocolate.
Kinder Bueno also comes in milk chocolate and white, and the brand recently launched ice creams in the UK too.
It’s unclear whether the chocolate bars are making a permanent return or if they are just limited-edition, but Metro has contacted Ferrero for comment.
But one thing is for certain, online there’s been lots of demand for the dark version with many begging for it to come back, calling it their ‘favourite’ Bueno and ‘iconic’.
And the official Kinder Bueno account has been teasing its return for months, posting screenshots of people’s comments and replying: ‘Patience is a virtue.’
