Local media employee in custody for Exploitation of Minors, police say

GROVETOWN, Ga. (WJBF) – A Grovetown man has been taken into custody after being indicted on crimes that involved the exploitation of minors.

According to authorities, Grovetown Police Department investigators assigned to the GBI Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received information on January 14th that Alejandro Booher was utilizing the social media app “Kik” in an attempt to obtain Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).

According to investigators, additional cyber tips continued to be received, indicating that Booher was still actively attempting to obtain CSAM, and subsequent search warrants revealed that Booher was portraying himself to be a young female in online chat forums, while also soliciting other males for CSAM.

Authorities state that during several of these chats, Booher made specific requests for videos containing children, to include infants.

According to the Grovetown Police Department. authorities presented testimony to the Columbia County Grand Jury who subsequently indicted Booher on eight (8) counts of violation of the Child Exploitation and Prevention Act; however, during the investigation, investigators say that Booher moved from his address on the 900 blk of Cannock Street in Grovetown to the 1100 blk of Nancelon Circle in Evans.

Grovetown Police Chief, Jamey Kitchens confirmed that Booher is an employee of WFXG, Fox 54 in Augusta. He works in the IT department.

According to authorities, Booher was taken into custody on Friday at his residence and transported to the Columbia County Detention Center.
