WEATHER: Extreme heat and fire danger expected in parts of SA

Sunscreen is a must as a scorching hot Tuesday is on the cards for 3 February. If you’re in the North West, KwaZulu-Natal or the Free State, here’s what you can expect:

NORTH WEST

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Lekwa-Teemane Local Municipality in the North West.

MAHIKENG

Partly cloudy with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers. A high of 32°C is expected.

KWAZULU-NATAL

Morning fog is expected in places over the interior. Otherwise, conditions will be partly cloudy and warm to hot, with isolated showers and thundershowers in the west and southern parts. The UVB sunburn index is extreme.

DURBAN

Partly cloudy, with a low of 25°C and a high of 31°C.

FREE STATE

Fine and hot to very hot conditions are expected. It will become partly cloudy later, with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers in the east and along the Lesotho border.

BLOEMFONTEIN

A boiling hot day is on the cards, with temperatures dropping to 17°C and peaking at an intense 35°C.
