Deadline reports that Spider-Man: No Way Home actor Jorge Lendeborg Jr. will be joining the cast of HBO’s The Last of Us in its upcoming third season. He will be taking over the role of Manny, previously played by Danny Ramirez.
Ramirez confirmed that he wouldn’t be returning to the show due to scheduling conflicts, likely referring to his growing role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Joaquin Torres, aka The Falcon.
Jorge Lendeborg Jr. Joins The Cast of ‘The Last of Us’
Ironically, the person stepping into Manny’s shoes in The Last of Us‘ third season is another MCU veternal, Jorge Lendeborg Jr. The actor is known for playing Jason Ionello in the Spider-Man series—one of Peter Parker’s former classmates.
Manny is a fan-favorite character in The Last of Us video games, and Ramirez’ portrayal throughout the HBO show has been a particular highlight for audiences. The character is one of the former Fireflies who joins Abby in her quest to get revenge against Joel, who murdered her father to protect Ellie in the season one finale.
The third season of The Last of Us will be a major departure for the HBO series, shifting away from the main characters and detailing Abby’s perspective as the Washington Liberation Front is hunted down by Ellie and Dina.
This means that Manny will likely have a much larger role in the upcoming season, explaining why Ramirez was forced to step back to focus on different projects. It could end up being a breakthrough turn for Lendeborg Jr, whose credits until now have been generally supporting roles.
While no official release date has been given, fans can expect The Last of Us season 3 to be streaming exclusively on HBO Max in the summer months of 2027.
