Summer has officially landed in Sheffield, and the city is serving up an absolute feast of festivals, food markets, and sweaty dancefloors this July. Whether you’re a hardcore raver, street food lover, or biking enthusiast, there’s no excuse to stay in this July.
Here’s our editors picks of the best stuff going down across Sheffield this month.
Festivals
Sheffield doesn’t mess around when it comes to festivals and this month the city is serving five events perfect for blowing off some steam post-exams (or celebrate finishing your dissertation in one piece).
Starting off strong, “the UK’s biggest podcasting party”, Crossed Wires, returns to Sheffield for another year of bringing together the best voices in the business. Running from Friday 4th to Sunday 6th July, expect shows from hit podcasts such as Help I Sexted My Boss, Dish, No Such Thing As A Fish, and more. Think live audience interaction, industry insights, after-show parties, and the chance to say hi to your favourite podcasters. Read our chat with the festivals co-founder, Dino Sofos, to find out more.

The team at Don Valley Bowl are putting in a shift this July, with not one, not two, but three huge events lined up for the city’s party crowd.
Live at the Bowl on 11 July is headliner Craig David along with supporting acts Nathan Dawe and Patrick Nazemi for a night of bangers and two-stepping like it’s 2002. Final tickets are being rolled out so grab them while you can!
Featuring headliner SCOOTER and a stacked lineup of 90s and 00s icons, 90s Fest is then returning to the Bowl to serve up everything from house, trance and DnB to pop, R&B and indie. Expect a weekend of nostalgic partying, glow sticks and electric DJ sets. That one’s 12-13 July – tickets here.
The third is Bassfest – bringing some of the best electronic music to the stage. Tickets still available to see artists such as Aitch, Jamie Duggan, and Morgan Seatree perform on the weekend of the 19th June.
Rounding up the month will be the hotly anticipated Tramlines. Fresh from their new album and Pyramid Stage set at Glastonbury, Sheffield’s very own Pulp headline the start the weekend (Friday 25th June) with a day of artists curated by them. The rest of this year’s lineup sees Reytons, Kasabian, Franz Ferdinand, The Last Dinner Party, Natasha Bedingfield, Rizzle Kicks, CMAT, and many more heading to Hillsborough Park. It’s complete sell out, but resale tickets will be available through their official resale partner Tixel from 12pm on Friday 4th July.

Sport
Fancy some sporting action instead? Part of the British Cycling National Circuit Race Series, the 12th Sheffield Grand Prix will see top cyclists race around a 1.4km circuit of the city centre – beginning by the Town Hall, circling round to Arundel Gate, and back up through Union Street. There will also be youth races and a chance for 100 registered community riders to have a go on the route.
Markets
There’s plenty of places if you’re fancying a local shopping spree in July too. Walkley Summer Maker’s Market will showcase stalls of local art, food, and plant sellers. Head to St Mary’s Church on Howard Road between 11am and 4pm on 5th July to see more of what’s on offer.
There’s also the quarterly Sheffield Vegan Market on The Moor on Sunday 13th July, followed the following Sunday by the triannual Sharrow Vale Market featuring stalls and highlighting its very own independent shops and food destinations.
On campus
It’s graduation time for University of Sheffield students! And Foundry is putting on a selection of events to celebrate and reminisce. Enjoy one last dance in Foundry with a special week of nights out for the Class of 2025 – Pop Tarts, Roar, Soul Jam, the Tuesday Club, and Grapefruit all taking place between Monday 21st and Friday 25th July. Tickets still available for all five, and (just in case you want your mum to meet Roary) parents and guardians can go along for free.
Or, ahead of that Wednesday’s Roar – you could be popping into Foundry a few hours early to see Wet Leg play an album launch show for their upcoming release ‘Moisturizer’. It’s another sell out – but a great gig to have got a ticket for if you’re going.
