Nicola Peltz appears to have hit back at allegations that she is ‘controlling’ husband Brooklyn Beckham amid reports of a rift in his family.
The actress, 30, married photographer-turned-chef Brooklyn, 26, in a lavish ceremony in 2022.
Around that time, there were numerous reports of beef in the Beckham camp, with rumours flying that Nicola had a bust-up with her now mother-in-law Victoria Beckham.
Both sides appeared to quash the reports later on, however, and grew closer, spending quality time together as a family and attending public events.
But it didn’t take long for things to turn sour once more, as earlier this year, Brooklyn and his wife were no-shows at dad Sir David Beckham’s 50th birthday bash.
What’s followed is distance between the two sides, with Brooklyn remaining noticeably close with Nicola’s side, having recently wished her billionaire tycoon father, Nelson Peltz, a happy birthday on social media–after snubbing his own dad completely.
Throughout all of this, Lola star Nicola has faced the wrath of Beckham supporters, with many accusing her of having her hubby under her thumb.
And while Nicola has maintained a dignified silence on the matter, it now seems like she’s had enough.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday, she shared a series of snaps from her dad’s birthday celebrations.
Her sweet caption read: ‘happy birthday dad! i am so lucky to be your daughter, you’re the most loving and supportive father i could ever dream of. i love you more than i could ever begin to express – you’re the wind beneath my wings. i loved celebrating you yesterday! thank you for always being there for us – our constant love and support ✨🎂’
The carousel included plenty of pics of Brooklyn with her loved ones, leading to arguments in the comments.
‘Funny how you’re so happy to be his daughter but you don’t allow your husband to celebrate his own father. SMH’, wrote @cristizufe.
‘How sad for David when he sees this 😢’, commented @spirit_heart9a.
But one message in particular looks to have caught Nicola’s eye, reading: ‘The fact people are in this comment section talking bs about someone controlling a GROWN man is absurd. The guy is an adult and can make his own decisions, leave them be and stop blaming women for everything.’
In a rather telling move, she liked the comment.
Others jumping to her defence included @cindylunoboa, who wrote: ‘The comments are wild ! Nobody knows the truth ! He is a grown man. Who can make his own decisions. Nobody knows the inside story. That’s his wife period’.
It comes after Brooklyn vowed to ‘always choose’ Nicola via his own Instagram video, making it clear where his priorities lie.
Neither he nor Nicola has directly addressed the so-called family feud publicly. However, they did give a rather cryptic response in a recent interview when asked about how they ‘protect [their] privacy’.
Brooklyn told Glamour Germany: ‘Don’t listen to all the nonsense.
‘Keep your head down, work hard, stay friendly.
‘There will always be people who talk. The important thing is that we’re happy together.’
Meanwhile, Nicola made a dig at ‘fake’ reports about them.
‘It’s not always easy,’ she admitted. ‘Stories about us are constantly popping up on TikTok.
‘When I read fake news, I’d love to deny it immediately, but it’s not worth it. The only thing I can do is scroll away and move on.’
As for the Beckhams, Victoria is said to be ‘heartbroken’ over the feud between Brooklyn and his dad, with sources claiming she is desperate for them to reconcile.
It has also been said that Brooklyn is ‘disappointed in himself’ for missing out on his dad’s milestone birthday, which all his other siblings attended, as did Gordon Ramsay and Tom Cruise.
Still, Sir David has continued making declarations of love for all his kids online, Brooklyn included, such as with his affectionate Father’s Day post.
As for his younger brothers, Romeo and Cruz have chosen a different approach, making what many have interpreted as ‘digs’ at Brooklyn via TikTok comments and Instagram Stories.
One of these included 20-year-old Cruz writing on his Story: ‘It takes 43 muscles in your face to frown, and 17 to smile. Be kind and tell the truth.’
