Ranking the most evil characters in Squid Game, from dangerous to completely demonic

I’m still not okay after that Squid Game season three finale. Not just because it was brutal, or because people were dropping like flies in twisted schoolyard games, but because some of these characters were genuinely evil. Like, “needs to be locked up and saged” levels of evil. And the worst part? They were hiding in plain sight. Some of them wore tracksuits. Others wore suits. All of them were unhinged.

Sure, a few players were just trying to survive. But others fully leaned into the “eliminate the competition” part and treated it like a lifestyle. So, here’s a totally unserious but definitely accurate ranking of the most evil Squid Game characters, from just-slightly-sus to absolutely unhinged. Spoiler: If they smiled too much, they’re probably guilty.

12. Cho Sang-woo

via Netflix

Number 218. The golden boy turned traitor. Look, I’ll admit, I didn’t think he was all that evil at first, just desperate and morally bankrupt. But the moment he backstabbed Ali (my sweet, sweet angel) and then killed Sae-byeok while she was already bleeding out? That was a switch-flip. Not pure evil, just what the games dragged out of him. Still, man literally murdered people and I’m sitting here calling him “not that bad.” It only gets worse from here.

11. The Shaman

via Netflix

Honestly? The Shaman scared me. She gave off “possessed by something dark” vibes and always seemed one bad moment away from biting someone. Lied, manipulated, and dipped the second things got messy in that hide-and-seek round. A chaos demon in cheap lipstick. Evil and untrustworthy.

10. Captain Park

via Netflix

I knew he was sus from the start. Every time the detective got remotely close to the truth, this man would magically reroute the boat. Constantly side-eyeing, sneaking, and covering things up. Then he started killing unarmed people like it was part of his job description. Sir, please touch grass, you need it.

9. Thanos

via Netflix

Some of you love him and I get it, I do. The charisma, the one-liners, the gym-bro energy. But also: Selfish, arrogant, and a little too into the murder games. Betrayed everyone the second it benefitted him. He was less “strategic king” and more “self-absorbed nightmare.” Annoying and evil.

8. Nam Gyu (or Nam Su?)

via Netflix

He became the exact thing he hated, another Thanos-type menace. One minute he’s Mr. Integrity, next he’s yelling at his supposed friend and making questionable “leadership” calls. Man folded under pressure and became a menace. Evil with a side of hypocrisy.

7. Lee Myung-gi

via Netflix

I really thought he’d redeem himself. Maybe not for the mother of his child, but at least for his child. But no. He dangled that poor baby over a ledge for money. Genuinely vile. Grow a spine, sir.

6. The Recruiter

via Netflix

The recruiter was the worst kind of evil, the smiling, charming kind. Manipulated desperate people into signing their lives away like he was offering them food. You could see he enjoyed it. Had way too much fun playing God. I’ve never wanted to throw a glass of water in someone’s face more.

5. Player 100

Evil in human form. Every word out of his mouth made me want to press “exit game.” Kept voting to continue, killed without hesitation, constantly switched sides. A coward pretending to be a predator. Honestly? The actor might not be much better, but let’s not get into that.

4. The Front Man

Yes, he was ruthless. Yes, he’s personally responsible for hundreds of deaths. But this season gave us a peek into his backstory. And, it explained a lot. Doesn’t excuse the trauma he’s caused, but it softens the blow… a little. Still very much a war criminal in a mask.

3. Jang Deok-su

The gangster. The cockroach. The actual worst. He murdered for fun, laughed when people died, and acted like the games were his personal playground. You breathed a sigh of relief every time he wasn’t on screen. I need therapy just from remembering his scenes.

2. Oh Il-nam

This man hurt me on a personal level. He made me distrust old people. The literal creator of the games who joined in just for fun, because apparently being rich and bored means you can casually orchestrate mass murder. Ever heard of charity, sir? Do some volunteering. Make a sourdough. Literally anything else.

1. The VIPs

And finally, the most evil of them all. The VIPs. If hell had a VIP section, it would be them, and they’d be the hosts. Using humans as furniture, betting on people’s lives, making degrading comments, and just being the worst people alive. Everything about them was vile. They weren’t even smart about it, just rich, bored, and deeply disturbing. The masks weren’t hiding anything. Evil is their brand.
